The way it's been moderated in the past works for me. I know some people want religious/political discussions, but I liked the sideline more for the fun and randomness of it. I thought it was moderated fine the way it was. Aren't religious and political discussions random as well?

| Buckethead (10/30/2008) While politics is perhaps a volatile topic for debate, it is one of my favorites.
Too oftenthough, political debates spiral into personal attacks, and ultimately into a flame war, with those who disagree, unable to reconcile what might have been a lasting friendship.
In short, politics and religion should be only slightly tolerated as a topic for discussion.
I feel as if I can debate these issues without becoming enraged, (most of the time), but if I had to moderate it, I would, as you have done, refuse to continue cat herding.
You guys did a fine job, for the most part. I have no complaints in this regard.I agree, posts that may be in a political or religious thread that do nothing but toss names around and do not contribute to the topic should just be banned. I am good either way though, whether those topics take place or not.

Ditto. I have no problem with how things are being handled now. Quite honestly I think at times it has been too lenient. Shoot, once or twice I would have even warned myself. Do you think it should have it's own set of say four or five mods?

| | Keep it within the rules of the CoC... it's been working fine for awhile now... I don't post on the Sidelines as much as I do on the main forums... BUT... there's only so much one can read or handle after a Jaguar loss... you can only read through so many threads of fire this coach... cut this player and get rid of Shack threads before you need some relief or turn off your computer... try reading through a good thread about the game to only watch it get high-jacked into someones personal agenda against a player, coach or any other thing that fits their agenda... it's a BIG MESS...the Sidelines offered that kind of relief for a bunch of us... a place to go to share some light-hearted humor... It will not be the first time the powers to be changed the message board and it will not be the last... I've been here long enough to see 3/4 of the changes... but getting rid of the Sidelines in not moving forward... it's taking steps backwards...

| It should be moderated how it has been in the past. I don't mind the religious and political posts being banned. In fact like that.
This was the only part of the message board someone could come to and not get into fights. Recently the Sideline turned into a fun place where we talked about Matt Jones's 'stache and talk about other sports, etc. This forum was harmless, IMO.

I think the main Jaguars board is the one that needs the most moderation. The Sideline is much more civil.

Do you think it should have it's own set of say four or five mods? That's not a bad idea at all IMO. Name the mods and tell us who they are though, I think knowing exactly who the Mod is eliminates all worries of someone hiding as has been accused in the past. Which, IMO is what caused a lot of the strife that I've seen in recent months.
