| Teal 'n Black (10/29/2008) Florence hasn't been starting due to a groin injury. Do you not read any of Vic's articles on the front page? D-Flo will be back in the lineup when he is ready to play 100% of the game.
Well that is kind of funny considering Vic said that one of Jack Del Rio's 'changes' appeared to be demoting Florence in this evenings show. |

| Terracat05 (10/29/2008) Sense is better at SS then Florence is at #2 CB. Unfortunate the FO brought in another huge bust in FA. Florence was brought in to be a quality #2 CB to Mathis but him and James have been very inconsistent at best and just flat terrible at worst.
what are you talking about? how has sensabaugh been a better SS? he has missed tackles, been terribly slow to react in coverage.
yes, james has been terrible. but how has florence been terrible? i love how no one gives examples, just says things with nothing to back it up...
being moved to nickel... IS BEING BENCHED
Rashean the I-N-T Machine Mathis- best CB in the game
TMD's "predictions" so far for 08 season:
-Minnesota and Philly in the NFC championship game with Minnesota in the Superbowl
-Denver Broncos in the AFC championship game
-Houston a top 5 rushing team in the 09 season
-Houston seeded higher in the playoffs than the jags
- jags finishing 9-7 at best
- Browns finish better than the Jags
-Jags finish last in the AFC South after a bad showing in the preseason
TMD and I have a bet for $100 on the Jags wins
-Denver winning the AFC West LOL
-Bengals over Jags 24-21

That must be a change for this week then. Florence wasn't playing as much last week because he was limited by his groin...at least that is what Vic said earlier this week.

I know you like to ignore reality sometimes but here is what was said on the radio show tonight (by people that probably know more than you or I)
[radio show]
Florence's strong suit is man coverage which is what we would want when using the blitz packages we utilized early in the season. He is not that great at the zone coverage. Since we have abandoned the blitz packages he has become less effective than they would like.
[/radio show]
My take: I don't know if Florence was brought in before Greg Williams or not, but if that is the case the whole thing is a freaking mess right now. |

Don't know but listening to the show this evening it seemed set it stone that it was BW/RM/GS/RN in base packages until something changes. |

I didn't get to hear the show tonight, so you probably know better than I do. I still feel comfortable w/ D-Flo at nickle...Brian Williams still has enough to be a starting CB for us...it all rides on Sensabaugh making the plays he should.

Well, that is what I took out of the show. I'm sure someone will listen to it once it was archived and bash me for some reason or another.
edit: Sensebaugh is a mystery to me, I'm still willing to give this guy the benefit of the doubt due to his injuries last year (which most everyone in town ripped and discredited him as doing crap this season because of).
He doesn't make all the tackles like he should, and does sometimes get burned on his own coverage (from what I've seen is when a QB has a ridiculous amount of time to throw).
Bottom line to me: I'd rather have a coverage liability at safety than at corner, especially if we are back to the zone defense. |

He's always making mistakes in zone coverages, playing his man too loose in man-to-man on occasion, doesn't use his body vs the run, and has pretty rough footwork which leads to receivers getting open on him.
Where do you think QBs have been going vs us most of the season? At Mathis? Nelson? Williams? No, no and no. Florence and James have been inconsistent and terrible, respectively.

What is also interesting to me is that I heard an interview with Brian Williams where he mentioned that one of the things he found more difficult in playing safety is identifying and calling offenses to the defense. Switching BW to safety might have confused that even more than letting Sensebaugh do it as he had in past starts. |
