How do you drop that pass?
Jerry Porter is a waste of time.Question: do you place ANY blame on the front office for this FA mistake? No, I think Jerry Porter snowballed them and said all the right things, lying through his teeth. So, it isn't one of the duties of the front office to be able to see through a show of BS & make an accurate assessment/ projection of this player?? Wow. Is there anything, at all, that you could hold the front office accountable for? i think they knew they were taking a chance. The WR corp was that bad, they needed take a chance. Obviously it isn't working. But if Jerry had come in and done what they expected, it could be a different season. He could be a difference maker, he chooses not too. The front office was wrong thinking this team was ready for a superbowl run. Two rookie defensive ends and a couple free agent wr's was not all this team needed. Do you know one of the first things the cowboys did when Roy Williams showed up? THEY THREW HIM THE BALL! The first thing you do is throw a receiver the ball! How the heck do they get acclimated to the game if the ball isn't touching their hands! How hard is that to understand? What is mentally wrong with you? |

| | I haven't seen anything from JP that says he doesn't care. In fact I saw he was the fist guy to run over and hug Matt Jones and Reggie Williams after thier TDs. You guys just love to hate. You just love to make up stuff so you have another reason to hate. |

I agree with that last line, however, just because the front office "took a chance" doesn't insulate them from blame if the chance doesn't pan out. I don't understand that line of thinking you are trying to sell. This isn't intramurals, this is the NFL, a multi billion dollar BOTTOM LINE business. You either make the correct personnel moves or you make the wrong ones. Its that simple, and it is that black & white. Theres no giving anyone a "pass" since they "tried". You either suceed or fail. If you keep on failing, then you get booted to try and find someone who is successful at evaluating personnel.
Congratulations to the 2008 WORLD Champions, your Philadelphia Phillies!

I totally agree.
The front office should know better than to pick up free agents that will tear their hamstrings in OTAs.
they totally should have seen that coming. Especially from a guy who has only really been injured two times in his eight year career.
.. on vince young
David: he will find a way to throw this game away
David: even tho they already lost
Naddy: i need chargers to get a pick 6 to help out my playoff challenge
David: me too
David: that'd be nice

| | I don't love to hate. I just don't except a $10 million free agent, coming here and not producing at all. And I certainly don't think it is just a matter of calling his number. The guy is not a difference maker, he's not even a top reciever in this league, He doesn't want to prove to the world he is mediocre, so he chooses not to show anything. |

And Matt Millen was never given a pass on Charles Rogers, despite the player breaking his clavicle 2 straight years. The player was deemed a bust.
Same with Yatil Green. and a host of other examples.
It is unfortunate that Porter got injured. But guess what? In the end, the free agent moves are either successful or they are not. There is no excuses. Other GM's don't get the benefit of that, and this one sure as hell shouldn't either.

First, i'm all for getting rid of harris. That said, nobody can predict the future and not every draft pick and free agent is going to do what your expecting. They needed a burner to strecth the field, and open up opposing defenses. So, they tried, that is not a bad thing. They got the one guy they could afford and thought could bring that deep ball threat. It would be a more of a problem if they were not addressing the WR corp in free agency, the draft has not worked and they thought time was of the essence.
Fire shack i'm good with that, he's had some good picks but not enough to keep him around. |

I was really surprised when they signed him. All this "don't bring the problem" to JAX mentality contradicts them signing this guy. I didn't get it and I'm still waiting to "get it."
