The trading of Marcus Stroud was only one of the many gaffe's this front office has made, and certainly not the biggest mistake, either.

The reason this team is where it is at now, can be traced directly to the front office. People want to always give James Harris & co. a free pass, however, the reason this team is where its at is 100% personnel. Our 53 man roster simply is not as good as people overrated it to be coming into this season.

The Derrick Harvey move looks absolutely awful so far, as does the big money deals of Porter & Florence. You're talking close to one HUNDRED MILLION dollars in total contracts for those 3 players & the net result has been a horrible return on the investment.

If I was Wayne Weaver this past offseason of moves would be the last straw for a James Harris headed front office that simply has not done a good job overall, and the arrow is pointing down.

Even if this team has a poor record this year which nets a high draft choice - do YOU want this SAME front office making any more of these high picks?? Why in the world would you? Or why in the hell would Wayne want to waste any more of his money on players that just aren't producing good value?

It started with Leftwich, Reggie Williams, Matt & Marcedes, although Matt is at least playing his worth finally, after 4 years.....

The coaching of this team is not the issue. They can only do so much with the limited talent. We simply do NOT have enough playmakers. I've been saying this since day dot with this Harris FO, and it's clearly come to roost.

Congratulations to the 2008 WORLD Champions, your Philadelphia Phillies!

That was the biggest mistake we've done in the last few years. We need Stroud and the team has that written in their foreheads. But its already done, lets not cry and keep going...guys here need to learn accepting more when we lose and dont get that desperate.

At the time most people thought it was a good deal. Stroud wasn't Stroud since 2005. He played two poor, injury riddled seasons and we traded him. Looking back on it, it's definitely wasn't a good move.

Now if the same thing happened with Mike Pete, I'm sure a lot of people would be for it, but he could just as easily blow up for another team. No one is clairvoyant.

We have certainly neglected the defense the past few offseasons and it's coming back to bite us in the a$$. Now you look at what happened and the weakest part of our team since Del Rio took over is probably the best (the passing game). The defensive line is in shambles. That's really what it comes down to.

And with the Jaguars first round pick they select ******* ***** DT out of ***** *****! Yup 2009 NFL Draft I see the Jags taking a DT in the 1st. Hate it like it, unless they find some beast in FA.

I have to admit for all the flack TMD got I am starting to agree with him on this one along with his 8-8 predicition.

Love them Jaguars

How is it a gaffe? Stroud did not play much at all the last two years and they did just fine without him. It is not the loss of Stroud that has affected the defense.

^Exactly. Here's a post I made in another htread:

"Very sly of you. Anyone can make any stat look good if you leave out certain info [in reference to someone's statements that Stroud is leading the Bills in sacks]. Stroud only has 2 sacks halfway through the season, which is only one more than Big John and Rob Meier each.

As for your "theory" that Stroud's mere presence galvanizes the whole D-Line and gives them opportunity to sack the QB, you really stretched there. The whole line has 12 sacks, only three more than the Jags. They are barely outperforming the Jags."

The FO was not mistaken in trading Stroud. Stroud was clearly in declin, even as early as 2006. How can anyone criticize the FO for trading away a player who was reaching his decline for draft picks? The problem we have NOW is that the D-Line is old. Stroud staying would have compounded the problem.

It's a gaffe because what we have at DT this year is not playing to the level it was last year. The projection was made by the front office, that what we had, leftover from Stroud would be as good or better than Stroud. It didn't turn out that way.

I was one that was for trading Stroud, too. I don't think that the mere trading of Stroud at face value was the real mistake. The mistake was getting what appears to be very little with the picks parlayed out of the Stroud deal. If the DE's were doing anything, maybe the deal wouldn't seem like a mistake. The DL is doing little to stop the run, and the pass rush is almost non existant & it doesn't even seem to be showing flashes of improvement.
