| Alfie (10/27/2008) Bobby McCray isn't really doing all that much in New Orleans.
McCray has 3 sacks
Spicer and Hayward have 3 sacks combined
And get this, McCray doesn't even start. I'm sure if he did he'd have more.

He got 2 sacks against the Raiders.
I could play OT for the Raiders.
Have you watched him play? It's the same 'ol Bobby McCray. He plays maybe 60% of the game full speed.

A back up shouldn't have the same amount of sacks than 2 starters combined PERIOD. I don't care what team they played
And it is near impossible for Spicer to play ANY GAME at full speed.

| Alfie (10/27/2008) You do realize Marcus Stroud basically didn't play all of last year, and this is the same D-Line... right?
Don't even bring up Grady Jackson either. He played like 5 snaps a game.Last year the offense controlled the game which meant that the defense wasn't on the field a whole lot. The problems were the same last year but it was less prominent because the offense had the ball most of the time and was able to score which meant the defense could play with a lead. Right now they're on the field to much and they're playing when we're behind which means they try to force things and the opposing offense can catch them in the wrong position.
I always come to my conclusions by careful, scientific observation.
But only if the results of said careful, scientific observation fully corroborate my biased opinion. If It Ain't Dutch, It Ain't Much

| | I think it's pretty fair to say the Dl has not been a plus for this team this year. They make NO PLAYS. We'll se how Harvey and Groves come along way too early to tell but this team needs by draft or FA a monster DT who can not only stop the run but get after the qb. |

| Im starting to be in support of drafting a 3-4 NT and sticking him at DT in our 4-3. We are a team that in my opinion needs to have two 3-4 NT's at DT to keep lineman off our fast LB's..
we are getting pushed around... i too would have rather cut spicer or heyward and keep mccray who proved he can rush the passer. He was young, and was a guy we developed.. thats all behind us now though.
Spicer has always been a liability in pass rush, but was stout vs the run on 1st down, he is now a liability in the run. This team almost needs to put 4 DT's in on 1st down just to get a team in 2nd and long.
too many times its 2nd and 4 .... you cant win like that.
the problem is not the secondary, its not the LB's, its not Mike P, its the D-line. Im not going to blame groves and harvey because they are rookies, tho i am very mad at groves for taking away mathis's pick.

TMD's "predictions" so far for 08 season:
-Minnesota and Philly in the NFC championship game with Minnesota in the Superbowl
-Denver Broncos in the AFC championship game
-Houston a top 5 rushing team in the 09 season
-Houston seeded higher in the playoffs than the jags
- jags finishing 9-7 at best
- Browns finish better than the Jags
-Jags finish last in the AFC South after a bad showing in the preseason
TMD and I have a bet for $100 on the Jags wins
-Denver winning the AFC West LOL
-Bengals over Jags 24-21

Spicer was the only DE who showed up to play yesterday...

I disagree, ya stats show he had a sack.. it was a coverage sack, anderson pumped like 3 times... it took about 4 or 5 seconds for them to get to him, that was a coverage sack, not a play by spicer.
spicer repeatedly got turned in the run game again.. not supposed to happen when you are a 295 pound DE
Spicer was the only DE who showed up to play yesterday...

I don't care if Anderson "pumped" 15 times... if Spicer wouldn't have got there to sack him then no one else would have either...Spicer is not the problem... when Lewis was running the ball up the middle... don't ecpect Spicer to make that play...
