| It had the potential for a GREAT weekend.....Bolles wins big, the Gators blow away Kentucky, I wake up Sunday to a beautiful, cool, blue-sky day. The drive to the stadium is uneventful, I find a great parking space. The Jags win the coin toss and defer to the second half. The defense holds the Browns to a 3 and out on the first series..........then (crickets chirping)

| | On the subject of the Chuckd/Utopia debate: You're reaction to a win or a loss has nothing to do with how good of a fan you are. What matters is whether or not you will be in your seats screaming your heart out the next game. Personally I refuse to let a football game determine the mood I'm in. Most of the time Í'm back to my normal self on Monday afternoon. And by Monday evening I'm already looking ahead. The fact that Chuckd pay hard earned cash to go see a football team gives him the right to complain if he feels the performance isn't up to par. That doesn't make him a bad fan. Nor does utopia's reaction make him a bad fan.
I always come to my conclusions by careful, scientific observation.
But only if the results of said careful, scientific observation fully corroborate my biased opinion. If It Ain't Dutch, It Ain't Much

| I'm more or less in the same situation that jags fan_since 96 and DragonFury. Down here in Mexico, if you're not a Cowboy or a Steeler, you essentially get no games on TV, no gear, no media attention and no respect. The only gear I have is a Jaguars cap I randomly found on a sports store and that I proudly wear every Sunday. I have seen ONE other Jax fan in my life here, a speeding guy in a motorcycle in a black Jaguars jacket.
I agree that the way you act after a loss is not an indicator of how good a fan you are. Some people are more passionate about an outcome than others. It's OK. Some people prefer to carry on and look forward to next week. That's cool too. If you really love the team, you'll eventually forgive the loss and be back cheering at the stadium. It's like fighting with your loved one. If you really love that person, you'll be back with him/her. Going to the point of quitting on the team and bashing the fans who still try to look for positives on a loss is like dumping someone because of one fight.
Just chill out, people. Only you can judge how much of a fan you are.

Yay, I like being average too. It's such a wonderful thing. This sucks, and if you like losing, go be a Texans fan. I like this team because they win and they fight. This isn't the team I fell in love with a couple years ago. This is average...actually, it's worse than average. We are the St. Louis Rams. We are the Cardinals of the past 10 years. It's sad. I love this team, this city, our stadium, etc....but I don't like HOPING, or SETTLING for something. This is a blue collar team, and right now, they're sitting on their azz. Sorry to burst your bubble, but most of us here didn't fall in love with this team a couple of years ago. Try 13 or so. Good for you. I didn't live here. Yesterday was my 67th game in a row..haven't missed one since I've been here and I've made my entire family Jags fans, who also attend as many games as possible, even though they live out of town. I mean these players, this system, these coaches, etc....not the team in general. I guess more fans are a bad thing? Do we want to sell out the games or no? Are original fans the only TRUE fans? Gimme a break. I'll take a new screaming fan any day. I like the Gators too, but I wasn't around their first yeaer either, so I guess that doesn't make me a real fan? I'm a bandwagon one? Riiiiight. It's not about money either......I'm gonna spend it on something...football, the boat, the house, whatever. I felt like I cared more about winning last night than they did....that's all.

I did not use the word bandwagon once.
But, when you've been with a team since their inception and give up a lot to go to every game even when sometimes you shouldn't be (I go to FSU, I make the drive every night after the FSU games) it gets annoying seeing newbie fans coming in and criticizing the team. WE KNOW THEY'RE JUST NOT THAT GOOD THIS YEAR! Let the record speak for itself. I'll take being one of 32 cities to have an NFL team and continue to support my Jags regardless. You're simply stating the obvious and annoying a lot of people.
As fans we have no control over anything except attendance really. So just take what we have and get over it.

| Yes, I'm just disappointed. I do feel the 2009 season will be our superbowl year.
Will probably draft a DT to match up with Henderson to get a push. Harvey and Groves should get up to par (NFL speed). Should draft Spikes from the UF for LB to get speed. Our guards will be healthy, our WR's will be more indepth on who is the better WR and why.
2008 is a bust for us, this shouldn't have happened to us. I'm bummed out, it's suck to watch a very good football team lose because of injuries. We should be 6-1, I'm sorry but many games we lost be we didn't have that extra push on talent because people are missing.
When we get the running game back, Garrard will be free to throw on the PA passes. I'm looking forward to 2009. Hopefully we can go 7-9 or something, get a mid draft spot where the DT's and LB's and CB's don't cost 6 million per season and get some help on defense. |

| jags fan_since 96 (10/26/2008)
I live in Canada, and believe me, there aren't many Jaguars fans up here. I often times find myself getting the "what a loser cheering for a loser team no one cares/knows about" treatment. I wear my Jaguars merchandise in public. I have been a Jaguars fans since 1996. I have ordered Sunday ticket for the past two seasons just so that I could watch the Jaguars play every week. I would have ordered it years past if I had the money/ resources to do it. I am going to Detroit to see the Jaguars play the Lions, and it is gonna cost me a friggin arm and a leg to do this. The Jaguars have been underperforming, but this in no way changes my outlook for the game. I don't regret putting down all that money to travel to see a game the least bit. It is like I am a young child all over again that can't wait for christmas. I am proud to say that I can truly call myself a Jaguars fan, something that several people here can't do. Trust me, it's a lot different sitting in front of the TV watching the game than it is sinking $400 into tickets, parking, beverages and coming out with a loss that could have easily been a win. If I just sat in front of the TV with $12 invested in beer and another $9 in wings, I would probably be a little more chilled out just like you. You don't get it. We listen to Jags on talk radio, we see them on tv commercials, we go to spring training. We pretty much eat, drink and live for the season. Living outside of Jax and not going to the games is a lot different.

| | i haven't ever been at a game. I hardly ever get to watch the Jags, im in missouri. I don't have season ticket. but you can guarantee im always here and on gamecast, plus waiting for the game to start, and waiting for highlights on whatever game im watching. I look stupid all the time with my reactions to my computer when gamecast says touchdown or the jags win and then, come here and gloat and then, wait for the highlights on espn I wear jaguar gear all the time and yes, it sucks that ill never get to see the team (I will eventually) but the fact is, we have all the rights to be in the mood we are now. We shouldn't have lost to the bills and browns. like on jaguars.com says...this season is based on crap like what happened last night when Matt Jones bobbled the ball and almost had it..... We want the feeling to win a superbowl. Not caring is stupid. Go ahead and don't care, then you shouldn't be personally talking about football really because football is a pasionate sport. You take pride in to doing so, following every move of your team instead of waiting for the first game, lose against someone like houston and go, oh well, who cares. millions of dollars goes into these teams, thats why you have to care. our money, our time, our investment, hoping for the best is rested in this team. We expected much more this season. Jerry Porter, DG back, a powerful run offense and a offense that can pass also and a very aggressive defense. Instead, we get no porter at all, DG has been on it though, our run offense blows, our passing game is getting there and our defense? what the heck? Sure, don't care, don't take passion into team but ill tell you this, some fans are a lot worse than others. some take serious tradition in college football also...I try not to let the game bother me but you can't because you want the most success like the steelers, cowboys, colts, 49ers (in the 90s) and all that...I want to be a fan of a championship team...one day it will come and I will continue to show serious emotions through that time for the team I love... |

| | I've been a fan from day one, I was a plank season ticket holder and was at every game until 1999, when I moved to the Seattle area. I still get Crown club tickets and fly in once a year for a game. My tickets for the Buffalo game were so good, that the guy sitting directly behind me was Wayne Weaver. I'm a Jag all the way through and care for no other NFL team. If it was'nt for the Jags I would not even follow pro football. I'm passionate about the game and get mad when we lose. I want us to win and I'm pissed when we don't, usually I stay off the boards when we lose, because it hurts so bad. I try to ignore it till the following week and win makes it all better. Many of you are much more passive, it's not your fault. Most are younger and the school system tries to breed that stuff out of you, under the guise of sportsmenship. It's really just so the government can control you better, they don't like it when the citizens are rowdy. As for those of you who are from other countries, you are welcome to watch and enjoy. But when it comes to fanhood, piss off. Go watch soccer, the most boring game on earth, GOAL< GOAL< GOAL!!! How dare you look down on us for our emotion and passion. It's our right to speak out any way we feel like it. Although, probably not for much longer.
