The tack and indy game is crucial tomorrow.  I sat next to an advance scout of the tacks at our game today and he was the one who told me this.

Assuming the tacks win tomorrow and play at least .500 ball the rest of the way
(easily doable IMO to finish 11-5), the twinks and Jags would BOTH have to finish the rest of the season with only 1 more loss each to compete for the division.

They play each other week 16 (@ J'ville), so if they both have another loss by then, that game will knock one of them out of the division race.  Looking at the twinks next few games that seems awfully daunting.  Looking at our schedule I think we have two more cream puffs but TN could close out the division here in Jax with a win already.

The Jags can not afford one more loss for the division and maybe not two more for the playoffs.  10-6 may not get you in because of the AFC east teams easier schedules.

Look at our last nine and tell me you only see two losses.  I just gulped hard when I came home and saw the rest of our schedule.  I know everyone here says we want to root for the tacks tomorrow but I am not so sure now.

If the tacks win tomorrow, with Buf, SD, Pitts, Jags and Indy losing they will have just about clinched the South.  They could actually clinch a playoff spot with three more wins.  That is how wide open the AFC at the top has become for them.

Unreal reality to me.

Why the name TitanJag?  I am a Jag fan who has a sister married to a now former Titan player.  Thank god he left in Free Agency.

The Titans are in better position to clinch a Wild Card should they not win the division because they haven't lost any tiebreakers. The Jaguars problem when it comes to thinking Wild Card is that they've lost too many tiebreakers. We have to assume the Jaguars go 10-6, because this team losing only one game is just as unrealistic as it is for them to make the Playoffs at 9-7. Should the Jaguars manage to win the rest of their divisional games, there's a chance the Titans do end up falling to 10-6. If they have a loss to the Colts and Jaguars then the Jaguars would own the tiebreaker at 10-6 over the Titans. This is a viable possibility, and there are not many viable possibilities looking at the Wild Card picture.

You're premise was to presume the Titans win half of their games from here on out. I'm not going to make the presumption. Looking at their upcoming schedule I can totally see them losing four straight starting with the Colts and ending with the Jaguars. The Jaguars just need to win, and my prediction is that the Jaguars and Titans both end up tied at 6-4 a few weeks from now. I further predict that both teams go 4-2 down the strectch leaving them tied at 10-6 with the Jaguars taking the divisional tiebreaker. There it is, but first the Colts have to win tonight.

cleveland will not win more than 8 games.. them owning a tie breaker with us isnt an issue.

only 1 team from the west is getting in, only 1 team from the north.

that leaves all of the east, and all of the south.

im going to assume niether miami or the jets have more than 9 wins after looking at thier schedules.

we have to be 2nd in our division with a 10-6 record because both Buff and NE are getting in.

if we get to 10-6, we'll be in, but i dont know if we can go 7-2 over the next 9, it will be daunting.

even if we win the next 2, beat Tenn and Minn, we are 7-4, but still have AT houston who looks tough, Indy, GB, chicago, and baltimore, and we would have to win 3 of those.

it can be done, but there is no more room for error.

we need to be rooting for Tenn tonight, not indy

Rashean the I-N-T Machine Mathis- best CB in the game
TMD's "predictions" so far for 08 season:
-Minnesota and Philly in the NFC championship game with Minnesota in the Superbowl
-Denver Broncos in the AFC championship game
-Houston a top 5 rushing team in the 09 season
-Houston seeded higher in the playoffs than the jags
- jags finishing 9-7 at best
- Browns finish better than the Jags
-Jags finish last in the AFC South after a bad showing in the preseason
TMD and I have a bet for $100 on the Jags wins
-Denver winning the AFC West LOL
-Bengals over Jags 24-21

If the titans win tonight all hope, chances, dreams, etc.. are done! Think about it. Plus we lost the freaking Browns. We stunk and GB, Bears, Indy, and the Tacks will wipe the floor with us. Baltimore is no gimme either.

If the NE and Bills are in who says Indy isn't going to fight for the other wildcard. They are playing alot better than we are right now and who says we are going to beat GB, CHI, BAL, or even the Texans right now. Let alone beat Tenn here and Indy at the end of the year. Lets be realistic. I hope they win out, but.....

Even if there is still a good chance at a Wild Card, I'm not ready to concede the division. Wild Card teams have to play every game on the road and rarely make it that far. It's my gut feeling that the Titans are about to fall hard, and that's a good thing for the Jaguars. But it all starts with a Colts win.

Here's how I see their schedules playing out...

TITANS

  • Colts - L
  • Packers - L
  • at Bears - L
  • at Jaguars - L (Titans at 6-4)
  • Jets - W
  • at Lions - W
  • Browns - L (Titans at 8-5)
  • at Texans - W
  • Steelers - L
  • at Colts - W (Titans at 10-6)

JAGUARS

  • at Bengals - W
  • at Lions - W
  • Titans - W (Jaguars at 6-4)
  • Vikings - L
  • at Texans - W
  • at Bears - L (Jaguars at 7-6)
  • Packers - W
  • Colts - W
  • at Ravens - W (Jaguars at 10-6)

It doesn't have to be exactly this, but the Jaguars can only lose a division game if the Titans also lose one of their division games.

If they can't get in on a wildcard, they sure as shootin' can't win the division.

Considering how you're expecting Jacksonville to play out the rest of the season, I can say pretty confidently that Tennesee won't lose that many games.

I dont share your optimism.  I am a realist.  Indy is in deep trouble tonight and we all know it.  The tacks fan base by all acounts is juiced for this one since they never get a MNF at home.  Moreover, the thing that has changed with the tacks perception is this rookie.  Johnson is the real deal.  He makes them real tough.  Before it was their D and a plodding run game.  This kid can score from anywhere at anytime and you cant leave him alone no matter where he goes.

Indy weakness now is the OL and the tacks strength is right there.  They have GB next week.  GB cant stop the run either.  And GB like to throw it.  The tacks are like 5th in pass D too.  I dont see any long slides in TN unless they get injured.  Infact, if they win tonight I see them being undefeated coming into Jax to close it all out.

Tonight is for the division.  If they win I think its over.  Then I think the rest of the South is battling like mad for a WC.  Even the Texans are back in it now.

The reality of the situation is if Indy wins tonight and the Jags win the remaining 3 division games the Jags win the division and an automatic playoff berth.

We want Indy to win, period.

Maybe I don't know this, but to win the division doesn't the order go "Total Wins" first. Like over all record first? So what your saying is if we win the rest of our division games we win the division?

I believe what he means is that the Jaguars would win the divisional tiebreaker should it come down to that. The bottom line is that the division race is not yet decided. With the Jaguars only three games back, it's simply too early to concede the division.
