YOU BLOW!!! Metallica is awesome!
oh yea.
SIDELINE!!!!!
(or AFC South)

He probably listens to worthless bands like Nickleback and Buckcherry...

Death Magnetic is bad ***.

Nickleback has some good songs. man, I love how I appreicate all kinds of music. I can go from Iron Maiden to Stevie Ray Vaugh to Children of Bodom to Lynard Skynard.

To the other guy, Metallica doesn't suck bud.

Dude, ...Bodom....
I swear to god that even if Maryia Carey sung for them I'd STILL listen to them because their music is so badarse.
and if any of you kids out there haven't heard of Children of Bodom, I HIGHLY reccommend you view this link: http://new.music.yahoo.com/videos/ChildrenOfBodom/Trashed-Lost--Strungout--15601311

I like most music as well. Although I'm not as big on what passes for "metal" these days as much, with the cookie monster vocals so prevolent & all. It seems like the music end of it is suffering nowadays. Thats what pisses me off.

Congratulations to the 2008 WORLD Champions, your Philadelphia Phillies!

Nice.
I used to be a purely metalhead, listening to bands such as Bodom, Pantera, I (STILL) think that Randy Rhoads is god, Megadeth, Arch Enemy, Judas Priest, (OMG, if you haven't listened to their 2006 album entitled Angle of Retribution, in which Rob Halford rejoined the band for the first time in 14 years you MUST: it's INCREDIBLE), but now I've drifted into more chill music like Dream Theater, Flaming Lips, I still LOVE LOVE LOVE the Chili Peppers, and prob my all-time favorite band is Pink Floyd, although I still love my metal roots.

You know, I can understand that you don't personally appreciate screaming, but Ive found that more often then not, the musicianship in bands like that is far superior.
Try listening to that link and tell me that the music is lacking in complexity or difficulty to perform.

Yep. Not big on the cookie monster either. You might like this though. The band is just ok, but this cover rocks. It hits hard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_pAV0VUjdY I sent it to the Jags DJ to play at the stadium!

I still find myself going back to old Alice in Chains and Metallica. I even like old Blink and Box Car Racer.

I guess its just a matter of taste. Perhaps I shouldn't have lumped in as blanket a statement as the previous.

I'm not sure "screaming" is the issue, because when I go back & listen to an old Maiden album Bruce ****enson certainly wasn't "whispering", just that it seemed the vocals in that era or with a band like Pantera, were just more artistic & not just, I dunno....cookie monster-ish. I agree that there is still a lot thats good from a musical aspect. Just a matter of taste as mentioned above.

Yeah, I usually don't like the growling, but this is a Black Sabbath cover and it gets me pumped. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_pAV0VUjdY

I'm glad Su brought up Alice in Chains...not just because they are one of my fav bands of all time, either

but, they are an example of vocals that certainly have their share of "screaming" you could say, however, Jerry Cantrell & Staley still had great harmony in their vocals. Just listen to "Got me wrong" as one example.

So, I don't think it is the "screaming" per se, that I don't like with todays "metal", the cookie monster vocals just seem cliche at this point, and seem contrite as well as not having much musical/ artistic value.

PS....I realize AIC isn't really"metal" either, before someone goes there.

Thats why I brought up Maiden & Pantera as other prior examples.
