| Do you guys want to get back at the folio?
Don't write them.
Pick up a copy and see what advertisements they have in there.
Write those advertisers. Written copy is all about the advertisers that keep it running (essentially what Brockalee said).
See how fast you get a retraction. The last thing an editor wants is to get a phone call from his advertisers asking why they're getting heat for endorsing such crap.
Look through this for an example of advertisers involved with Folio Weekly. But it's more pertinent to find advertisers from the exact issue.
Anyone care to make a list of the contact info for most of the major ads in that edition? Or at least make a list of the advertisers, someone else can gather the contact info easily enough.
.. on vince young
David: he will find a way to throw this game away
David: even tho they already lost
Naddy: i need chargers to get a pick 6 to help out my playoff challenge
David: me too
David: that'd be nice

| I'm all for any efforts that hold The Folio Weekly responsible for their content, but this thread belongs on The Sideline.

| POnca (10/25/2008) ...I sent my own e-mail to the managing editor which simply stated that the submission in question is one they could have and should have left out. Of course, that is a form of censorship, and FolioWeekly, if anything, is against censorship in any form.
With that logic, should the Folio have offered the "Best Reason to Diss John Lennon", bravelyI might addgiven their leanings, and someone sent in a response, "because he gets shot", then they would have surely printed that response since they are "against censorship in any form."
Please.
Do you regularly read the Folio? Do you know what "they are about"? This particular piece seems to me more of a commentary on Jacksonville than on Richard Collier, and some of its resident's ignorant stance that they won't suppport the Jags because they won't support thugs moreso than making fun of a man because he was shot. That doesn't make any sense (even for a liberal!).

| EraserGirl25 (10/25/2008) Hey guys, I just got home from work and can't even begin to express how disgusted I am by this. I am going to spend the rest of the night brainstorming on how we can "take down" the Folio. I refuse to let this be tolerated--I know you guys feel the same. I don't want to sound high and mighty here, but I'm willing to step up and spearhead something for all of us to participate in. This goes further than being a Jags fan this is about being a decent human being that doesn't take cheap shots at others. It makes me sick to my stomach to think about the person that wrote this article.
One of the first things that popped into my head that we could do is jut gather up all of the copies of the folio we can find and dump them on their front doorstep---I don't know how legal that is, or how illegal for that matter. It's a small first step but if we join together on this, I know we can accomplish something. We have to stand up and make a difference. This will not be tolerated--at least not by us.
I vote for torches, pitchforks, tar and feathers. Maybe a rail we can ride the editor out of town on - though it seems silly that we should have to do all the carrying while he rides free...
OK, now I find the 1st Amendment also protects UNPOPULAR speech. So hot tar and hanging are out. Maybe we should just not read the Folio. Turn the channel if we don't like the program. Nah, too sensible.

| | Do you regularly read the Folio? Sure I do. I read the Folio quite often. And I've been able to stomach much of its Jaguar hate in the past, but this really does show their true colors. The editors are cowards.

| Who cares, really? They've shown they are a-holes. That reflects on THEM, not Big Rich, not the Jags or the fans. Just Folio.

The Folio is a progressive rag. The editors/contributors intent is to induce changes for the positive within the community; or, rather, interest enough like-minded readers to sell advertising. I don't know how this was presented. I haven't seen it. But I understand the printing of the comment "They get shot" to be facetious and not meant to be understood as a commendation of the belief that a Jaguar being shot is good reason to diss the team. This was to be understood as leveled at the folks (in the TU's rants and raves, message boards and comments sections of articles online) who make the -baseless- claims that they won't support the Jags because they won't support criminals. It's satirical. It's also crass, poorly conceived, uncalled for, and something they shouldn't have printed.
But it wasn't a shot at the Jaguars.

And just because it's progressive doesn't mean it's cleaner than normal.
The Mad Dog (2/24/2008) Had I started in 2003, This team would have seen a SB by now.
Starting from right now, with the team in it's current state, I could have this team in a SB within 2 years/ seasons. | |

| | But it wasn't a shot at the Jaguars. It was clearly a swipe at the Jaguars. The Folio's past history with the team supports this. Geez, look in the same issue at AG Garchinski's (?) article lambasting Del Rio for taking time away from the 3-3 Jaguars to stump for Palin. Again, freedom of the press - I can deal. But looking at their "Best of..." as anything but mean-spirited, and hypocritical to boot, is just being plain dishonest.
