| With approximately 5,000 tickets remaining, Sunday’s game between the Lions and Redskins will not be televised in the local television markets (Metro Detroit, Lansing, Saginaw/Flint and Toledo), according to National Football League guidelines.
The NFL rule for televising a game in the home area requires that the game be sold out 72 hours before kickoff. The game would have had to be sold out at 1:00 p.m. today in order for the blackout to be lifted.
Hmmmm.... LA Lions? |

| | NFL at Large. I posted this at 6 am this morning. I still think Detroit is really suffering more than any other city from this crisis that is our economy.

| | Anyone who thinks the Fins game last weekend was really sold out is a joke. I bet there weren't 40k people there. I actually kept the clip that showed the stadium 3 minutes before kickoff. It was like a sporting event was not actually going on.

| THE JAG MAKER (10/24/2008) I still think Detroit is really suffering more than any other city from this crisis that is our economy.Detroit also is suffering because its mayor went to jail. Is it any wonder John McCain gave up on Michigan?

| I wonder if the economy stays in the tanks and teams start looking at reduced season ticketholders if the NFL loosens blackout rules.... I feel they've already done it.... There sure looked like a bunch of non-premium seats empty yesterday and as the above poster said, the Dolphins are claiming sellouts with attendance of 8,000 under listed capacity.... Now the Dolphins have not covered seats like the Jags have so it is possible that they've told the NFL that they won't sell more than a certain number of tickets.... Last year they had over 70K a few times.... How is 65K a sellout???
