| What if one of the mods were morally & intellectually superior to the rest of us and felt he understood the amendments and therefor deleted the thread?? I kid, I kid. As for the op, I agree. I had to Google most of the amendments when I got my absentee ballot. Speaking of the ballots, I wish the Dept. of Elections would provide just a little background on the 8-10 judges that seem to pop up for re-election every year. Hard to vote yay or nay for someone whom you know completely nothing about, especially for an important position as a state or local judge.
My little girl has her teal & black on, how bout your kid?

| | If I understand the amendment correctly, it says they want to pass a law that doesn't increase the taxes on your house if you install junk which protects it from hurricanes. Regards............the Chiefjag

Regards............the Chiefjag It would allow the legislature to pass such a law. I think what they're after is to avoid penalizing homeowners by taxing improvements that the state wants homeowners to make.

| So, it's an amendment that would allow the passing of a future law if such a law were desired at a later time?
No, that's not confusing at all.
FYI, If I don't understand a ballot measure I always vote no. If I didn't have it before and don't understand it now, I must not need it.

Then I vote no. Regards...............the Chiefjag

| It says that if you make changes to your house that protects it against wind damage (like specialized roofing) or provides renewable energy (like solar panels on the roof to help bring down your energy bill) then the government could increase the value of the house, and therefore increase the taxes on it.
It a choice of the lesser of two evils. Pass it, then if you make those changes, your house is worth more, but you'll pay higher taxes. Axe it, and you won't pay the taxes, but those changes are expensive to make so when you sell the house you won't get the worth of having those extras included in the selling cost

The Government only sets the "value" of your house for tax purposes. This has nothing to do with the market determined value that your house will sell for when you sell it. The right improvements can increase the value of your house no matter what the government says it's worth. Vote no on all taxes.
