You know, I'm siding with klutzy on this one. We Jaguar fans are better than this. When we complain about Hines Ward like we have, we just reduce ourselves to the depths of other fans that complain because of "POOR" officiating. The truth is that he is a very good WR, and even if he does something very questionable on the field but doesn't get flagged for it, he can still get the job done when needed to. I know it hurts that he and the Steelers squeaked out a win in JAX 3 weeks ago, but we would be ecstatic to have him on our team; we wouldn't have this problem at WR we have now.

I think people's biggest problem with Ward is that the things he's doing are illegal according to the rules, but he's never being penalized for them. Everyone else isn't getting away with it, but Ward is never getting caught. Everyone else is following the rules.

Go Hines, don't let them take the physicality out of football!  I love me some hitting!

Where have all the sissies in this world come from?  Oh that's right video games and indoors living.

Go Jaguars!

Whats with the hate on Ward? Football IS violent. Its about beating the crap out of the opposition during the time given. I love watching Ward play, because he attacks defenses. Why can a receiver get laid out while in no position to defend himself yet when a defender, a linebacker at that, gets blindsided and suffers a broken jaw everyone needs to vilify the receiver? Its Rivers' fault that he took for granted the thought of getting blindsided. If he watched any film, or knew anything about Pittsburgh, he should have known Ward loves to block and take kill shots.

Before anyone calls Keith Rivers a "poor kid", remember this, he made it through college football (where a lot of people are either not good enough or suffer career ending injuries), is a first round pick, and is making a lot of money. Plus, there is next season and he will make more money. If i could make millions of dollars, and would have to get my jaw broke, I would. The issue is that players are WORTH millions of dollars. Franchises can't afford to lose that much money to players who lose value due to injury.

Plus, how is he supposed to use his arms to slow down a linebacker? a simple rip move can remove his arms leaving Rivers' still in position to make a play. By running through him he made sure he had no chance to make a play. That. Is. Football.

Maybe I've been watching too much hockey as of late, but the NFL is becoming more and more of a pansy league because of all this whining. Let players play, and let the quarterback go down and go down hard. I love NFL classic games.

He is the dirtiest player I have ever seen play the game. And his Jaw is always jacking.    That smirk on his face....That Has got to be the ...most....nasty.... smirk....of all....time......PUNK !

I would love to see you call Hines a punk to his face.....LOL.  Internet Tough Guy vs Hines Ward in an all out battle.....My money is on Hines.....anyone else, want odds....lol

I'm in on this......I would love to see ME call him a punk to his face. Can you set this up? Write him an e-mail, send him a letter. Text him. Set it up.

He would probably give you that stupid smile, and as soon as you turned around to walk away he would take a cheap shot at your knee or something.  Oh the irony..

I got nothing against Hines Ward.   He's a good receiver and he likes to hit.

What I don't get is, everybody loves the hit MoJo put on Shawn Merriman last year, but Hines Ward is getting blasted for making those same kinds of hits.

I think it's because Ward is so much bigger than MoJo.

I like Hines Ward, but that smirk does remind me of the Grinch.

Hines Ward's hits are generally unecessary or away from the play.  Mojo's block was to protect the QB on a play action pass.  If you're comparing the Mojo hit to Hines Ward's entire style of play you're pretty much clueless.  Sorry, but it's the truth.

The Keith Rivers hit (the hit that everybody's crying foul over) was not away from the ball.  To be honest, I haven't seen any of the other hits the NFL is getting on Ward's case over, so maybe I am a little clueless in that department, but I would think that if Hines has been playing dirty consistently the refs would have been paying much closer attention to him and he'd be drawing a lot more flags.  It's not like he's doing subtle stuff to opposing players after the play's over and the refs aren't looking.  Laying somebody out on a block is anything but subtle, and should be pretty easy for the refs to spot.

Like Jag Maker mentioned, I doubt you'd be so quick to attack his playing style if he played for the Jaguars.
