Disgusting? What if it's changed to reflect the influence of the many different cultures in the melting pot that is our country? How is that less patriotic than singing it to the tune of a 19th century British pub song? Jose Feliciano's version is one of my favorites, and I even enjoyed Whitney Houston's. On the other hand, I'm all for the Backstreet Boys being shot on sight, just on general principles. Sorry call me a traditionalist, but I prefer the National Anthem sung like it's written by Francis Scott Key. I just didn't like how they changed it. It's bad taste IMO. Francis Scott Key wrote the lyrics, not the music. I know? That's what I said. I'm not stupid. I love American History. For the life of me I can't remember who wrote the music though. I think was set in tune to a British Poem. Time to use google. Did The Backdoor Boys change the lyrics? The music was the tune from a British drinking song.

| While the purists among us are voting for the Backstreet Boys to be shot, I will be the voice of dissent.
They made some terrible songs, that made themselves and others, quite a bit of money.
Shooting someone for prospering should be left to the Bolsheviks. (or any other group qualified to determine how wealth and sustenance should be 'distributed'.)

Barry Manilow has long been in my sights, too.
