| | "Bengals rookie LB Rivers done for season Posted: October 19th, 2008 | NFL.com Staff | Tags: Cincinnati Bengals, Keith Rivers Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said following Sunday’s 38-10 loss to the Steelers that rookie LB Keith Rivers is done for the season after suffering a broken jaw. Rivers was injured when he was hit hard from the side on a block by Steelers WR Hines Ward. He was replaced by LB Brandon Johnson and never returned to the game. Rivers, the ninth overall pick in last year’s draft, started all seven games for the Bengals this season." Ward has gone toooo far. I hate this guy. His blocks (that just about break players bones when he hits them when they aren't looking) His piss poor attitude when he gets hit, his taunting. He a tool and should get suspended for the rest of the season He has no face, no shame. He makes the NFL look like crap. I bet his coach love his hit on this guy and breaking his Jaw. Guys a rookie and can't even play because this clown want to dismember players when he blocks. If I was a player on the Steelers upcoming games I would be looking to put a good ol lick on Hines Ward. Loser!

| | I hate the guy, but he was just doing what everybody has come to expect from him. If I were a bungle defender I would have went after him every play after that one. As much as possible.

| Did you SEE the hit? It is FOOTBALL. FINE HIM?!?! SUSPEND HIM?! Don't like it, go watch baseball... or golf. Its football. There is hitting, and THAT PARTICULAR ONE wasn't dirty. It was a clean hard hit. A LB woulda done it to a WR if he had a shot. You whiners kill me with this stuff. You and Goodell go watch teletubbie instead of football.

| They won't say it to make it obvious or to incur suspicion/wrath from the league, but Ward will have a bounty on his head next time they play

| Kane (10/20/2008) Did you SEE the hit? It is FOOTBALL. FINE HIM?!?! SUSPEND HIM?! Don't like it, go watch baseball... or golf. Its football. There is hitting, and THAT PARTICULAR ONE wasn't dirty. It was a clean hard hit. A LB woulda done it to a WR if he had a shot. You whiners kill me with this stuff. You and Goodell go watch teletubbie instead of football.Your a tool. Yeah how can so many people be wrong. We'll see when the fne comes out. Lets see what you say when one of your kids or friends gets their jaw broken in two places from a blind hit. How about we go play football you and me, and let me hit you in the JAW with the crown of my helmet. Then lets see if you respond with the same BS! Your a tool dude. That kids season is over. They don't make rules for no reason. Yeah thats a legal hit right here right........It wasn't dirty. The play was pretty much over . Keith wasn't even going full speed. He even knew the play was over. The guy was running out of bounds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXxc9OxIJyc Here another one.....Leading with the head.....They don't make rules for no reason. DMBA. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3uM3d42b6M Hitting someone to block them doesn't take to much skill EINSTEIN. All he had to do was put his hands up and blocked Keith, but instead decided to level him out leading with the helmet. Its cool if your blocking to help a play develop but with the intent to knock him out is different and thats exactly what he did. Ward had total control of his motions and knew exactly what he was doing. He had no sense of playmanship (is that even a word) he not a man at all but a big VAGINA!

| | I don't have a problem with his blocks, because its what I want to see our receivers do to defenders (play hard). But when it comes to Hines Ward, I can not stand the after the whistle scuffles that always seem to follow him around. |

| It was unfortunate for the guy who got hit, but it wasn't a dirty hit.
Ward is a scrapper. You've go to watch yourself on the field. Dude got blindsided, but in a legal manner.
Ward will get hit as hard as possible, by as many as possible, as many times as possible, along with every other WR on the field. Ward fights back. We love to see Reggie blast some defender.
The only real issue here would be helmet to helmet contact IMO.
A penalty and/or fine could be justified, but as a player on the field, you should make the hit.
You don’t win the title by assembling the best. You win the title by playing the best. JDR | |

| The one on Ed Reed was an illegal hit the way he lead with his helmet, the one on Rivers was just a clean, unfortunate play.

| I suspect the next time he plays the Bengals, they'll have to carry him off the field in pieces.

| TexasJagsFan (10/20/2008) I suspect the next time he plays the Bengals, they'll have to carry him off the field in pieces.LOL! Some will say it was legl hit but he lead with his helmet. You don't brake a JAW in 2 places with your hands blocking. His hard Helmet snapped his jaw not in half but in 2 places. If he would have blocked like your supposed to KIETH RIVERS WOULDN'T be on IR right now. As we speak he is getting his jaw wired shut. No eating real food, no more playing football (for this year) etc.... Thats the way I see it because Ward was a punk.
