Lockout = you don't get paid, which could come in 2011 if the NFL goes capless in 2010. Roy's agent tried to get him as much as he could prior to the end of 2010. Look for other agents to follow suit, including next year's draft picks. Bonuses and other guaranteed or likely to be earned monies should skyrocket (as if they weren't getting nuts already) in an attempt to get players as much as they can in 2009 and 2010 as agents develop contingency plans for a potential lockout. 'The key for Williams' agent, Ben Dogra, was to get as much money as he could by the end of 2010. And in salary and bonuses, Dogra succeeded; Williams will earn $27 million by the end of the 2010 season. When Dogra met Williams to explain the deal Saturday night, he told him, "You're going to earn $27 million before a lockout, if a lockout happens.'''
Dogra has now set the template that other agents will follow.
"I have to do a better job of throwing the ball downfield more when I have chances and not second-guess it. We just haven’t had the explosive plays like we had last year,” Garrard said. -10/10/08 The only defense against madness is the accord of your peers. That is, if you can convince no one that your beliefs are well-founded, then it's probably you who are crazy, and not the herd. - Alexandre Kojeve | |
