John McCargo - DL - Indianapolis Colts
Oct 14, 2008
Bills traded DL John McCargo to the Colts Tuesday.
The Bills took a lot of criticism when they traded up in the first round to draft McCargo back in 2006. It turns out the criticism was warranted as McCargo has been alternately injured, unimpressive, and overweight in Buffalo. He'll add much-needed depth along the Colts' defensive line.

So Polian traded for another Mike Williams?

| It's a shame we can't get some quality depth like that.
Something's got to give.

| | For a 4th round pick it's low risk/high reward. Last time we did this was with Booger and Bucs fans laughed at us and said he was lazy and injury prone. Hope this guy works out as well for us. We did fine with the run D against the Ravens but we NEEDED another big body. |

| | The Colts could actually have a 315 pounder (Muir) and a 307 pounder (McCargo). Not big by many teams' standards, but huge for the Colts! IF (and a big if) he works out and can play the Dungy-2, and IF (again....) Muir fits well also, things could just be looking up against the run in Indy. Time will tell. But as a Colts fan, it sounds good so far. |

| Sounds like grasping at straws to me. McCargo was a first round pick and he never cracked the starting line up. In three years he never started a game. That should be telling.
| Fred Taylor is the embodiment of what it means to be a Jaguar. #28 does every Jaguar fan proud. A class act on the field and off it. A first ballot Hall of Famer in my book. Run, Freddy, Run! | |

| I figure it's a good, low-risk move for the Colts.
The fact that the Bills dumped a former first rounder in exchange for a 4 after only a couple years shows what they thought of him.
Maybe the Colts can turn him around, maybe not. At worst, he's a depth player.....and since that's about all you're likely to get from a 4th round DL, anyway, I see it as an acceptable risk for the Colts.
That said, I wouldn't expect much out of him. He supposedly has a pretty poor work ethic, and has battled weight issues from day one. He gives the Colts a big body inside, but that's about it.
But if that's all they're looking for, then they've found their guy. |
