| Four things to consider about this trade idea...- Tony is 32 playing in his 12th season (although he did have one of his best seasons ever last year)
- Tony is affordable this year as his pricetag would only be $647,000 for the remainder of the year (the Jaguars are roughly $4 mil under the cap), however over the next three years he'd count $4 mil, $4.5 mil and $5.75 mil making him one of the few most expensive players on the roster.
- Chiefs fans are wanting a low 1st to a high 2nd (or possibly a combination of picks) for Tony.
- The NFL trade deadline is this Tuesday at 4 pm.

| | Wow, I am surprised nobody has mentioned the fact that Jacksonville doesn't even have a quarterback who could take advantage of such a good tight end. You could bring T.O and Randy Moss in here, and our offense would still look the same! Time to give Lemon a shot. Maybe he can see more than 20 yards down the field. |

T.O. would greatly improve the offense without a doubt. He's the best offensive player in the league. Just look what he's done for Romo's stats.

The Mad Dog (10/11/2008) Given that Marcedes Lewis sucks, do you think the Jaguars should make an offer for TE Tony Gonzalez?
I think Gonzo would be a very nice addition to a team like the Jags with an offensive coordinator that likes to utilize the TE alot.
Since Marcedes has basically been relegarted to a blocking TE, since he's had eggo hands this year & runs like a giraffe, I think tha Gonzalez would be an instant success inserted at the TE1 spot for the Jags and would help them maybe turn this season around.
I'm not sure what KC really expects to get in return should they trade Gonzo, but I'd be winning to maybe trade a 3rd or a 4th rounder for Gonzo.....
I wouldn't do it. He's getting old and I don't think he would have much to offer after this season. If this team was on the verge of a Super Bowl, I might pull the trigger. But, with all the injuries, I just don't think this our year. Looking towards the future, I'd rather have the draft pick. Also, I think Marcedes' ineffectiveness has been more of a result of the O-Line inefficiencies. I thought he played well last season when the line was healthy and he wasn't needed as much to block. I disagree. In order to be on the verge of a Super Bowl, the Jags need to get to the playoffs first, a goal that currently in jeopardy with this team. The Jags need a quick fix now and the Chiefs only want a 3rd rounder for him. A short yardage outlet is what Garrard needs right now. Get TG before the BYE, let him get acclimated to the offense and come out swinging after the bye. It's a good move. With that being said, the Jags will probably sit on their hands and let this slip by but go after another Hugh Douglas instead. |
