| are the worst in the league. Boy oh boy, these national media people really hate you. I am not writing this in hopes I irk you, but rather because I happen to think your fanbase is solid and should be defended, so write in and defend yourselves...

(There is a form embedded in there to send him a message)
Here's the quote I am referencing:
"I know exactly what everyone is going to write in their e-mails to me. First, people are going to comment on the Jags having arguably the worst fans in the NFL, and I will not dispute that in the slightest. People in Jacksonville would probably be more excited to watch an SEC clash between Kentucky and Vanderbilt. But it is not just Jacksonville. Seemingly, no stadium is truly immune to the Steelers culture."
That's from the link above.
That garbage after opening his column with, "The news out of Jacksonville Monday morning that approximately 25 percent of the fans for Sunday night's Steelers-Jags contest were waving yellow Terrible Towels came as no surprise to me."
To prove I am being sincere, I will point out Ross Tucker use to play for the Bills and takes a shot at my fellow Buffalo fans in this story, too, talking about a season-ending home game in 2004.

By that, do you mean you are use to these diggs and no longer care?
I don't think I could get use to them, and I would defend my team until the end.

| Yeah, it's old news. Whenever some hack needs a byline it's time to post some slam piece on:
1. Jags moving to LA2. Weaver selling the team 3. Jag fans suck 4. Jacksonville has Waffle Houses I think it has to do with not having a college team with a **** to write about for most of these hacks.

| | I won't be losing any sleep over these comments. Jacksonville is an easy shot for these writers. And every time one of these stories pops up, a bunch of whiney fans (I'm not saying we're ALL whiney) write in and try to sound 50 times more intelligent than they actually are making complete fools of themselve in the process, making the fanbase as a whole look pretty bad. Writers: 20 Jag fans: 0 STOP clicking the links, STOP reading the stories, and definately DO NOT respond to any of them. If you ignore them, they will go a away... |

| | The only game that outdraws the Jags is Georgia vs Florida. Case in point FSU vs Colorado (a decent matchup) drew 40k on 9/27/08 while the upper deck was closed. The next day Jax vs Houston was a sellout. Another thing hacks like this guy don't know is that Jacksonville consistently has the highest TV ratings per household viewing NFL football than any other NFL city. If anything that says Jag fans prefer to watch games on TV rather than at the stadium. If that makes us a bad fanbase then I guess I can't argue with that

| Dang... I suck.
You don’t win the title by assembling the best. You win the title by playing the best. JDR | |

| | I dont mind him saying we have a bad fanbase, but to leave out the real fans of the team, you know, people like me, and probably more than half the people on this message board, is really not fair, but he's a sportswriter, not a judge, so dont even bother mentioning that point to him. We have some truly great fans here in Jacksonville, the fans that get up early on sundays and get down to the stadium almost one or two more hours before kick-off, just to sit down in the stadium and take on the brutal heat, or catch a cold no matter what the weather conditions. Im just now peeling from the tan my arms developed during the Texans' game. But it is truly unfair to say or declare that one team in the entire NFL has the "Best" fans in the world. Because not only is it bull****, its really hard to prove that. You'd have to go through great lengths. It's like this, when the Steelers were struggling against the Ravens the week before they came here, were there fans still great during the "Boo-fest' that occurred? Are the Packers' fans still great, do they get a right of passage eventhough they totally ripped Rodgers a new one before the season started, when they cursed him up and down the practice fields during the training camp sessions? Were the Browns' fans so great when they ultimately forced the NFL to develop plastic beer bottles for the games because they couldnt stop throwing glass bottles out onto the field? Seriously, some sportswrites just think they ride to work everyday on a high horse and posses some kind of magical golden pen or keyboard. People are people. I dont care if you cheer for the Jaguars, Steelers, or some small middleschool football team all the way up in the suburbs of Minnesota or Wisconsin, people have the right to make decision, whether it be good, bad, or flat out ugly, just like the descions we make when it comes to picking teams. This team and city didnt really have the luxury that Pittsburgh, Dallas, and Cleveland had though. I cant recall any of those teams having to compete with the Florida State Seminoles, Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, Miami Dolphins and Tampa Bay Buccaneers that clearly had decades upon decades of legacies, generations, and fans developed. Is it really fair to pin-point us and brand us the worst in the NFL when we've had to go up against so much? Houston Texans? Big deal, they had the Oilers before and it's HOUSTON, everybody knows that fanbase would come up from the flames. The Carolina Panthers? Are you kidding me? They didnt have two other herald NFL franchise to compete with whether it was marketing, loyalty, and fans. They havent. These are the reasons why fans take it heart to heart when sportswriters drag us through the mudd.

| | So he isn't a fan of the Jags, who cares? Some sportswriters are, some aren't, it's like that with every team. Go watch Adam Schein on FOX if you want pro-Jag's talk. |

| | Oh C'mon - that article had nothing to do with Jags fans (one little line at the very end of the article) - it was all about the Steelers. "The Steelers have the most dominant fan base in the National Football League and their ability to consistently travel, en masse, and infest other team's stadiums gives the Steelers a competitive advantage that no other franchise can claim." "the simple truth is very evident to every player in the NFL: Steelers fans are the best in the business." "the fact remains there is nothing quite as powerful in the NFL as Steeler Nation." "All of this adds up to the Steelers having a significant competitive advantage based upon their fans' ability to partially, if not completely, eliminate some of the basic reasons teams are so happy to play at home in the first place." |
