Real Deal (9/30/2008)
I say do it this Sunday. He may not be able to watch live from the hospital, but I'm sure someone will tape it, there's YouTube, etc. Since he is coherent enough for his family to release the info (classy move by his family, btw), I'm sure they are telling and showing him how people are responding. I can't attend the game, but I would love to see plenty of signs/shirts/buttons on TV.

Just a thought, real deal, and with all due respect...but, and especially in THIS thread, don't you think your avitar is in poor taste? Charming and all...but?

Jim

Just a broke-down old college OT...

How? It's the King shooting Ronald McDonald. I don't see how it's related to Richard Collier, and how you could be offended by such an unrelated avatar.

Jagwired'd is to moderators as a wrongfully accused killer is to the court of law.

I show off my anger after Jags losses. I can't help myself.

Garrard said last night on the Jaguars show that the team is dedicating this season to Collier.  Aside from trying to win out or make the playoffs which is always the ultimate goal, I haven't heard anything else the team has planned.  It should be emotional for the players just hearing this bad news but they also have to keep their minds in the game.

"That was really the difference," Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said. "If we don't give up that play, it's probably a little bit different feeling right now."

"The Broncos were chewed up and spit out by the Jaguars for the fifth game in the nine the teams have played - including the most famous upset."  Woody Paige

Am I the only one who thinks this idea is a few weeks late?

The only thing that's happened recently is a press conference.  Why does it take a press conference?  Were folks not concerned three weeks ago?

Mature responses appreciated.

I don't think the details of his injuries coming out in a press conference should change how we feel about Big Rich, or the fact this idea is a bit late.  If there were a game dedicated to Big Rich, it should have been the home opener IMO.  First home game since the incident.

"I have to do a better job of throwing the ball downfield more when I have chances and not second-guess it. We just haven’t had the explosive plays like we had last year,” Garrard said. -10/10/08

The only defense against madness is the accord of your peers.  That is, if you can convince no one that your beliefs are well-founded, then it's probably you who are crazy, and not the herd. - Alexandre Kojeve

I'd say the news isn't all negative...

I'm glad he's alive.

And even though he's not in the best of shape and probably spirits, there's plenty of room for improvement...

C'mon Big Rich, we believe in you!!!

Hmm maybe because no one knew any of these details until yesterday. We all thought he was doing okay. We did not know the extent.........

We just found out yesterday that they guy is actually awake and talking to players and coaches. It didn't make sense to do this before because we didn't know if he was going to be alive.
