| EraserGirl25 (9/29/2008) I cried when I first heard it. I'm still in shock and my heart is so heavy. My hurt is turning to anger though. I am pisssed off that this thing happened, and that the person responsible has yet to be caught. I wish there was something I could do, or even us collectively as Jags fans. Anyone have any ideas on ways to help? I'm thinking of writing a letter to the PD expressing my hurt and desire for an arrest, just to keep this fresh in their minds. I'm sure they are working as hard as they can to close this case but you know how it goes when cases run cold. I don't know, I just want to help and I think if we all worked together we could make something happen. Richard deserves justice. My plan is to write down my prayer and mail it to Richard so he can see what some Jaguars fans are thinking about - the medical staff, friends, family members, all the Jaguars, sheriffs involved in the case, and whoever ruined Collier's life with his gun. I think it will help Richard to know Jaguars fans everywhere are praying about what happened instead of simply saying, "Get well soon," and then forgetting everything. He can look at that beautiful sheet of paper to remind himself everything will be OK in the end, no matter what happens. If you want to add something, let me know so I can start a new thread for prayers.

| | Very sad. I was hoping the rumors were false, but I guess not. Richard and his family will remain in my nightly prayers. Such a senseless tragedy. The fact that he will make a recovery after so much trauma is a testimate to his heart and spirit. Godspeed, Big Rich. I don't remember who said something about repealing the second amendment. That would make no sense what so ever. If that was accomplished, and law abiding citizens were not allowed to have guns, guess who would be the only ones with guns. That's right.....only criminals....like the spineless, coward, POS that shot Richard. Imagine what kind of world it would be if scum like that didn't have to factor in that their victim may be packing as well.

| | Real Deal, believe me, I know the law-abiding citizens should have the right to own guns. My problem is not understanding how a person can get his hands on a gun he does not legally own and try to kill somebody with it. This is not the time to debate gun control, of course, because we are here to support a shooting victim as he has been suffering in the hospital. I watched the beginning of Sports Center after MNF. One guy said a few sentences about Collier: basically just the fact that everybody wanted him to know first and a leg was amputated. You would think the speaker added he was "paralyzed from the waist down" and in "good condition" like NFL.com did. I was hoping I could hear him say something else about Collier.

| JaxJagsForever (9/29/2008) This type of incident makes me wish the Second Amendment was repealed because some people should not have "the right to bear arms.""political discussions are not allowed" - CoC

You are right, this is not the time to debate gun control. But, you brought it up . I just don't understand the gun control people because even if they pass new gun laws, that does not make gun 'vanish'. It just makes it harder for law abiding citizens to legally aquire a gun. The criminals will still have no problem getting one. Crimes are not usually commited with legally aquired firearms. Anyway, I am watching SportsCenter as well. Sad that it just got like a 10 second spot. Hang in there, Big Rich.

| Jagifornia (9/29/2008) I wonder how much we could add to the reward pot if everyone on this message board chipped in ten bucks? How many people do you think visit this message board?
Big Rich is a fighter, and he'll do great in whatever he decides to do with his degree, leg or no leg. I'm glad he's going to live. He's very fortunate, and still has time to make his mark on the world.
Now let's get the scum that did this. That's a great idea, maybe we could also take up a collection at the games.

| How about $76,000 because of his number? If we can't do that, $7600.

| | I have nothing new to add but feel the need to say something anyway, Whenever senseless crimes like this take place, it is up to the victim to make the best of a bad situation. Collier is a fighter, or he would have never made it to the NFL. I hope that he can use that same fighting spirit to turn this negative into something positive. I also hope he is financially positioned to be able to afford the level of care he will need in the future. It sounds like there are a lot of people that love him, and that can be a big factor.

| | Horrible news about Collier. You hate to hear about that happening to anyone, football player or otherwise. Hopefully he can recover as best as possible without any further complications from this incident. |
