Richard needs to be accepted into the Jags family. He should undoubtably have access to any Jags game for the remainder of his life. There isn't a whole lot the Jaguars can give him, but we can always remember him!

I cried when I first heard it. I'm still in shock and my heart is so heavy. My hurt is turning to anger though. I am pisssed off that this thing happened, and that the person responsible has yet to be caught. I wish there was something I could do, or even us collectively as Jags fans. Anyone have any ideas on ways to help? I'm thinking of writing a letter to the PD expressing my hurt and desire for an arrest, just to keep this fresh in their minds. I'm sure they are working as hard as they can to close this case but you know how it goes when cases run cold. I don't know, I just want to help and I think if we all worked together we could make something happen. Richard deserves justice.

The trick is using that anger to accomplish something productive, ya know?

Well it confirms what people have posted about his condition. It's a terrible tragedy. So much violence in this world.

I have a feeling Big Rich will make the most of his life given his disabilities.

I heard of RC's condition on the radio a few hours ago on the way home.  Stunningly sad news to say the least.  I wish him and his family the best going forward.

When I learned of the amputation 2 weeks ago, I thought he wouldn't pull through.

If big rich has made it this far and is already coping with his situation, God wants him on the Earth for a reason. He is a strong man and I'm sure life's blessings will follow him through his days.

I am sure Richard will find the good in this challenging episode of his life.

Richard's life won't be the same, but at least he's alive.  He'll always be a Jaguar.  I wish him all the best.  He's a young man with a lot of life to live.  We won't forget him.

First of all, thanks for the links to other articles. I just read about this on NFL.com.

When I saw the headline, my first thought was, they finally are saying something. I hated reading the rumor on this board that he had a leg amputated with no way to confirm that surgery was done. Now it is like, "So he did lose a leg. Now we know." But at the same time, I wish the rumor was a lie and he had no problems with a leg having blood clots. As for the paralysis part, I was glad it only is from the waist but wish even that problem did not exist. So I have mixed feelings about the report.

I completely understand the "eye for an eye" concept. It is normal to want revenge after something like this happens. I hope the offender loses the right to own a gun. This type of incident makes me wish the Second Amendment was repealed because some people should not have "the right to bear arms."

Why are mean people allowed to have guns if all they want to do is shoot innocent football players? Things like this make me wish I could understand criminal minds. It could not happen without a reason and I want to know what that reason was. Why would a person want to kill Collier instead of another bad man who deserves to die?

If I personally knew Richard as a friend, I would be crying like a baby right now and acting like he died. Because he is paralyzed, I feel like he lost both legs, since he is unable to do anything with the right one. To be confined to a wheelchair forever as both an amputee and a paraplegic is nothing short of horrible. I can only hope he is able to recover completely where the damage was not disabling and has a good life despite the fact it no longer includes playing football. I will pray for everybody who must now take care of Richard - family, friends, and medical staff - and the cops in charge of finding the heartless s who did this to him, not just Richard himself.

I doubt very highly that the person that did this to Richard is a lawful gun owner.
