| | My thoughts and prayers are with Rich and his family... I understand now why his family didn't want any news out, they wanted Rich to be the first to know his condition and give him time to adjust. on one hand he is alive and that is a miracle in and of itself, the loss of his leg and being paralyzed is a big adjustment for anyone to face, but from what everyone has said he is a fighter, he fought his way from Wal-Mart to the NFL I hope his spirit is up to this test as well...

| | First of all, thanks for the links to other articles. I just read about this on NFL.com. When I saw the headline, my first thought was, they finally are saying something. I hated reading the rumor on this board that he had a leg amputated with no way to confirm that surgery was done. Now it is like, "So he did lose a leg. Now we know." But at the same time, I wish the rumor was a lie and he had no problems with a leg having blood clots. As for the paralysis part, I was glad it only is from the waist but wish even that problem did not exist. So I have mixed feelings about the report. I completely understand the "eye for an eye" concept. It is normal to want revenge after something like this happens. I hope the offender loses the right to own a gun. This type of incident makes me wish the Second Amendment was repealed because some people should not have "the right to bear arms." Why are mean people allowed to have guns if all they want to do is shoot innocent football players? Things like this make me wish I could understand criminal minds. It could not happen without a reason and I want to know what that reason was. Why would a person want to kill Collier instead of another bad man who deserves to die? If I personally knew Richard as a friend, I would be crying like a baby right now and acting like he died. Because he is paralyzed, I feel like he lost both legs, since he is unable to do anything with the right one. To be confined to a wheelchair forever as both an amputee and a paraplegic is nothing short of horrible. I can only hope he is able to recover completely where the damage was not disabling and has a good life despite the fact it no longer includes playing football. I will pray for everybody who must now take care of Richard - family, friends, and medical staff - and the sheriffs investigating the case, not just Richard himself.

| | Man, there really isn't much you can say about what happened to Collier. I know many people don't believe in God, but as a Christian I have to say that God is with him and hopefully the Collier family and relatives can find some solace and comfort in him right now. |

| I cried when I first heard it. I'm still in shock and my heart is so heavy. My hurt is turning to anger though. I am pisssed off that this thing happened, and that the person responsible has yet to be caught. I wish there was something I could do, or even us collectively as Jags fans. Anyone have any ideas on ways to help? I'm thinking of writing a letter to the PD expressing my hurt and desire for an arrest, just to keep this fresh in their minds. I'm sure they are working as hard as they can to close this case but you know how it goes when cases run cold. I don't know, I just want to help and I think if we all worked together we could make something happen. Richard deserves justice.

| Richard is not only a survivor but also a fighter. One must have strong will not to succumb to such devastation. I am thrilled to see that he is alert and doing good. I only hope that he can now help the police piece together a motive and a suspect. This low life thug shooter needs to face the music.

But all we can really do with regards to getting justice for Big Rich is to wait it out, hope the cops do their jobs and get the right guy(s).

| I wonder how much we could add to the reward pot if everyone on this message board chipped in ten bucks? How many people do you think visit this message board?
Big Rich is a fighter, and he'll do great in whatever he decides to do with his degree, leg or no leg. I'm glad he's going to live. He's very fortunate, and still has time to make his mark on the world.
Now let's get the scum that did this.
