That's horrible news. I hope he is able to cope with this and start a new life for himself.

They need to catch the sacks of crap who did this. Bad things need to happen to them.

Don't wish that on anybody, just know that one day it will all catch up to them.

Poor choice of words on my part. They need to be brought to justice. I wasn't implying violence or death.

I'm glad I missed how apparently ugly this thread got.

Best wishes to Rich.

It was truly sad news today to hear about Collier's prognosis, and about his NFL career being over.  However, the fact that he is alive, and understands what is going on right now is a major step in the right direction.

Collier is a guy that has faced adversity almost his entire life, and he's found a way to overcome.  My hope is that this new obstacle in front of him presents Rich with a new opportunity and a new challenge for him.

According to the reports on FCN, he was already talking about possibly coaching or getting involved in some business ventures moving forward, so despite the shock of knowing that his career has ended, he's still displaying the type of hope that should be an inspiration to many.

Wow.

I was always under the impression that Collier would return to us mid-season in okay form.

Boy, was I wrong.

I hope he still lives a productive life. I know I wouldn't be able to look at myself for a good, long time to realize what state of being I'd be in.

My condolences to Richard and his closests...

Truely a sad outcome. Collier was on his way to being the starting LT for the Jax Jags in 2009. They kept away the information for so long it was obvious something serious had happened. It just goes to show that the people who did this have no direction in their life and that society as a whole is going to ship.

It's sad to hear the extent of your injuries Big Rich, good luck to you and your journeys. You'll always be a Jag in the Jag family!!!

This is very sad news. Thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. I wish I knew what to say, but sometimes tragedies and/or human ugliness can leave you speechless.

Just listened to the press conferences on jaguars.com.  So sad.  I pray for him and his family that this can have a positive outcome.  I'm sure it will take some time but he can be an inspiration to so many.  Maybe, just maybe, that was God's plan for him all along.  I dunno.

Such a tragic ending to his career. Most of what has to be said has been said. Regardless, prayers and best wishes to Collier & family.

I think I just began to appreciate the fact I'm fully healthy a lot more. Nobody wants to end up paralyzed waist down in a wheelchair, much less without a leg. But as some say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. And I'm sure Collier will become stronger as a person after such a tragedy. Big props to him for looking to move on instead of drowning in sorrow and desperation.

Best of luck in the future for Richard, and may justice be applied to the culprits.
