BJORN TOURAQUE (9/24/2008) Mayor Bill Hudnut?
I'm not voting for a guy named "Hudnut". Were you asked to do so or is this your usual thinking that any thread on this board is about you? Check the definition of megalomania. I told you, it was a fling. Get over me already.
This from the guy who gives his opinion on everything. Thanks for validating me! Hudnut/Fargin 2008! You so crazy Fargin. Only in your homoerotic dreams. I can't help it if you have fantasies about older men. Not that there's anything wrong with that. You need to get over this feeling that every post on the board is about you. It's not healthy.
This thread wasn't about me, but now it is. Strange. You work in mysterious ways.
You so crazy Fargin.
If there was every an angry ancestor I didn't want, I'd vote for you.
Hudnut/Fargin 2008!

XLIColts (9/26/2008) Sad to see it go because it was an important part of the Indianapolis history. Not just for the Colts, but if the Dome is never built Indy never gets the NFL combine, the NCAA final four, the Pan Am games, the Superbowl or the NCAA headquarters to move to the state. I think the Dome cost less than $100 million.
As for ****erson, I always hated him, even with the COlts. Terrible trade. Traded away the future of the franchise for one division title.Ifthey hadn't traded away for Jeff George a few years later, the ****erson trade would like a whole lot worse in Colts history. Luckily just by comaprison it looks not so bad. Those trades plus the horrible drafts of the early 1990s resulted in the terrible years for the Colts for the first decade here.
As for Hudnut, I didn't vote for him....I was like 10 years old. My parents did, though.
Superbowl? Naw, I think the Domewas a hindrance. Yet, I will always relish the great memories.
Sam
What did Eric Dickerson do that made him such a tool in the eyes of Colts fans?
I admit my ignorance, as I always saw him as a stud RB, but never was familiar with his personality.
With regard to stadiums, count yourself lucky to know the bittersweet feeling of having demolished the Indianapolis Colts' first stadium and moving to your new one.
I hope we will be fortunate enough to know the feeling.
You don’t win the title by assembling the best. You win the title by playing the best. JDR | |

I have very mixed feelings about ****erson. You are right....he was a stud RB. In his prime, I don't think there's ever been a better one. Barry Sanders and O.J. was the closes I've seen to ****erson's ability to literally dominate a game from the running back position....but even they were just shy of ****erson's raw talent.
But ****erson was SUCH a prima donna. He was JUST like T.O. but with far less personality. He ended up in Indy because the Rams just became sick of him and his act. And the Colts finally cut ties with him after a few years for the same reason. NONE of the players on the team liked him at all. He kept his yap shut & played for about year in Indy before he became a perpetual malcontent, constantly whining about his o-line and his contract and everything else he could find to b!tch about.
But he was a real bad @$$ in his first season and a half with the Colts |

With regard to stadiums, count yourself lucky to know the bittersweet feeling of having demolished the Indianapolis Colts' first stadium and moving to your new one. I hope we will be fortunate enough to know the feeling. First I will say I was never a huge ****erson fan even before he came to the Colts. He was a great back, but I always viewed him as kind of a soft back. My image of him is a whole lot of runs where he gets to the hole quickly and runs out of bounds before he would take any hits. I realize this may be ironic because I know some criticize Harrison the same way, but the difference is RBs are SUPPOSED to take hits and make the tough yards. He was very quick and a very smooth runner, but I don't recall him making a lot of tough runs up the middle. However, in regard to his time with the Colts its more what he didn't do. He never lived up to the expectations of the big trade. He gave them a few good years, but was never the great back he was in LA. They just gave up too much to get him. That trade helped gave Buffalo the draft picks to turn into a power in the AFC and formed the basis for their SB runs while the Colts got a RB past his prime and one division title. |

Without the Dome, the Colts don't come to Indy and without an NFL team, Indy doesn't get a Superbowl. It wasn't directly because of the dome, but without it the new stadium and the SB doesn't happen. |

| | It's sad. The Dome still looks good minus the roof. The Colts could live in there for another 10+ years. While I think the Dome going down is sad, I went to the Bears game three weeks ago. Lucas Oil Stadium is an amazing place. It will be perfect for a Super Bowl in 2012. Whenever they expand the convention center, I think the Dome will-sadly-become an afterthought.

| hendershot (9/24/2008) Pretty sad when these stadiums that cost hundreds of millions of dollars to build now only have a shelf life of about 25 years. Agreed. 'What's worse is that when we build these bigass places and spend all that money, we wonder why people are living on the streets beside them.

StroudCrowd1 (9/24/2008) This deflation is symbolic of the Colts team and city.I sure hope so, but until #18 retires, I won't hold my breath. Do you think when he does retire that they will deflate his head??? Unfortunately, no, because he will inevitabley end up on something like ESPN or NFL network. If you think that PM is unbearable now, just wait until he is behind a desk on a mic.

He has all but said so in interviews. |
