| | ''The moving vans have pulled away"... Twice in Colts history have the moving vans pulled away... I wonder if the vans pulled away around mid-night so as to keep up with the colts tradition of moving...

Not really. The William Herbert Hudnut years weren't so bad though.

Hudnut was a great mayor. Without Hudnut, Indy would have about the same big-time sports presence as Des Moines. There certainly wouldn't be an RCA Dome to deflate. |

StroudCrowd1 (9/24/2008) This deflation is symbolic of the Colts team and city.
No worries, we'll get over it. I keep on getting the feeling that the Colts chances of winning the division aren't over by a ****sight. I don't know why I keep getting that feeling *cough*theweeksfollowing"375"*cough* but there's no HISTORICAL reasons to hold onto such faith in the Colts.
That being said, today WAS sorta sad. I always hated the RCA Dome & couldn't WAIT until the new place finally opened up. But I was at the first ever Colts game there, the last ever game there and at least 100 other games over the years, including the great Holloween 1988 game (MNF's first ever trip to Indy where the Colts stomped on the Broncos) AND the 2006 AFC Championship Game (if I live to be 150, I'll never see a better, more memorable game). I've seen some truly dreadful games there too.
Lotsa memories, good and bad, in that old crap hole.
I have taken ear plugs ever since that game, The Colts had justtraded forDi ckerson and the fans were pumped, It was LOUD. Did you wear a Dan, Al Or Mike mask? lol, I remember those stupid things. That is still one of my mostmemorable games. I never did like the trade for Di ckerson, But at least he thrilled the crowd that night.
PS, IfI recall right the Di ckerson trade was fairly fresh.
Sam
The ****erson trade came the year before. As much as a tool as ****erson was, he was Indy's first ever true superstar athlete. MNF came to Indy that year BECAUSE of ****erson.
Yes, I wore one of those masks....and it was loud in there that night. What I remember most about the noise that night wast the "Elway" chant that went on all game long.
Until January 22, 2006 it was the Domes greatest hour |

| | Sad to see it go because it was an important part of the Indianapolis history. Not just for the Colts, but if the Dome is never built Indy never gets the NFL combine, the NCAA final four, the Pan Am games, the Superbowl or the NCAA headquarters to move to the state. I think the Dome cost less than $100 million. As for ****erson, I always hated him, even with the COlts. Terrible trade. Traded away the future of the franchise for one division title. If they hadn't traded away for Jeff George a few years later, the ****erson trade would like a whole lot worse in Colts history. Luckily just by comaprison it looks not so bad. Those trades plus the horrible drafts of the early 1990s resulted in the terrible years for the Colts for the first decade here. As for Hudnut, I didn't vote for him....I was like 10 years old. My parents did, though. |

I can't help it if you have fantasies about older men. Not that there's anything wrong with that. You need to get over this feeling that every post on the board is about you. It's not healthy.
