At the same time, we had injuries ourselves, including Meester, Naeole, and Durant.

You may want to add Collier, Mo Williams, Vince Manuwai, Reggie Nelson (2nd half), and our #1 Free Agent Jerry Porter.

Other than that, we're pretty healthy

Williamson and Uche

Bob Sanders is awesome but we have won plenty of games without him over the years. Yeah he is awesome and so is Freeney but we have plenty of good players on D who need to get the job done and step it up.

i could have sworn i heard the commentators asking if Freeney was even playing because im pretty sure he made NO good plays

When a team can run ever play effectively  and only needs to pass the ball on three step drops and 5-10 yard slants/out patterns, Freeney isn't going to have an impact.

Good point.

The Colts had probably more injuries last year & effectively went 14-2 (they threw the last gave w/ the Titans). I don't buy the injury OR officiating excuse, ever. What the Colts need to do to beat the Jags is ONE thing: wrap up on tackles. The whole game changes yesterday if the Colts "D" doesn't play like wussies.

Agree with this. After watching it over man we missed on first and second attempts almost all the time to bring down the ball carrier. That is often a problem we have had though against the Jags even when we do beat them and we saw it almost all of 2006. And we saw it the first few games this season as well except for the second half against the Vikings.

Tackling must be improved, yes Dungy and company will work on the fundamentals during the bye. It's disgusting how bad we tackle at times and I feel we it constantly has to be fixed.

As for injuries I do not use them for an excuse for our D or much at all ever. But, I finally feel Manning is back to where he needs to be health wise and you see the stretch play back which he was not able to do the first two games. I also feel Manning was healthy enough to beat the Jags but our D was not on the field enough and since we were running well on the Jags I would have liked to see more long drives.

And the timing is not all there yet at times with receivers. We have seen a lot of dropped balls. And people put a lot of blame on Marvin but often those were poor throws by Manning and not Marvin's fault often.

A lot to work on for us overall that having nothing to do with injuries right now.

But, the Jags running backs are bad *** and we don't face too many teams with two that good. Peterson was a handful though as well but we did a good job against him when the team tackled better.

*sigh* somethings our D makes me want to rip my hair out.......

Our tackling is not all that much better if it even is.... Watch our first two games? Guys getting into the backfield and poof 15 yards.... Piss poor tackling like both our teams having been doing will do any team in the league in.

Its Meier Time (9/23/2008)
You guys have to be happy with what the offense gave you yesterday.  Granted Peyton made two huge mistakes, but other than that, you guys moved the ball almost at will.  The Colts were 6 for 10 on third and 4th down conversions.  We won because we kept the Colts' offense off the field and got points from the defense, which we may be counting on as our recipe for success this year.

I think the Colts will be fine.  They'll get things right on defense.  Question.  Do you think letting go of Ed Johnson has anything to do with the defensive issues?

Ed? He was average. Nobody we have had at DT lately has been more than average as best and people made him out to be bigger. But, one thing that is hurting as big time is Hagler not back yet and Session there instead at lb IMO.

We have a few new guys nobody has heard of that are likely average as well and the same size as Ed or bigger.

But Johnson was the best DT on the roster

Ed Johnson was a good player.  HS is wrong on this one.  I watched him on tape a lot last year.  We made a mistake in not keeping him.  He had such a high ceiling.

FBT: Did you notice the players I named were not put on injured reserve? Manuwai, Williams, and Collier are all off the active roster for the rest of 2008. Starks is gone too (injured reserve/torn ACL). But we will get Nelson back; don't worry about him.

I agree about Hagler, Not about Ed though, He was easily above average. Session is a punk. Hagler is on PUP, He can't come back until after week 6.
