|
Jagwyer (9/2/2008) Well guess he is not going to help if DG goes down.http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3565073
Hey, we've got Paul Smith who knows Koetter's system. Nothing to worry about.
"I have to do a better job of throwing the ball downfield more when I have chances and not second-guess it. We just haven’t had the explosive plays like we had last year,” Garrard said. -10/10/08 The only defense against madness is the accord of your peers. That is, if you can convince no one that your beliefs are well-founded, then it's probably you who are crazy, and not the herd. - Alexandre Kojeve | |

| Seriously, if Garrard and Lemon go down for long periods of time will it really matter if our quarterback was then Todd Bouman or Paul Smith (I don't believe it would be)?

| HardcoreMoJagFan (9/2/2008) Seriously, if Garrard and Lemon go down for long periods of time will it really matter if our quarterback was then Todd Bouman or Paul Smith (I don't believe it would be)? There's no question the Jaguars would be in serious trouble if the likes of Todd Bauman or Paul Smith would be called upon for a extended period. A key for the Jags or any team for that matter is having play from the QB position that can get the team through a 1 to 3 week stretch in the manner that Quinn Gray did for the Jags last season. Gray was far from stellar in that 3 game stretch but the bottom line is he played well enough for the Jags to go 2-1.

| Posted by Mike Florio on September 2, 2008, 4:53 p.m. EDT Holy crap. On Monday, ESPN’s Chris Mortensen pulled the trigger too early on a report that quarterback Joey Harrington had agreed to terms with the Ravens. On Tuesday, ESPN’s John Clayton might have done the same thing via his report that quarterback Todd Bouman had agreed to terms with the Ravens. Per the Baltimore Sun, the Bouman report is premature, too. But the Ravens are still expected to sign either Harrington or Bouman. So, in the end, one of ESPN’s front-line information men will be right, and the other one will be wrong. Somewhere, Sean Salisbury is laughing his *** off. (And possibly taking pictures of his junk with his cell phone.) |

| | Stigma, thanks for the update. Regardless of who the Ravens chose to be their QB, they better hope that there running game, Defense, and Special Teams are close to the level of the 2000 Ravens. Realistically though, it looks like this will be a rebuilding season in Baltimore. The Ravens QB and LT situations have too many question marks.

The mystery is over.
The Ravens officially unveiled Todd Bouman as the new quarterback in Charm City.
Bouman will serve as the top backup to rookie starter Joe Flacco. To make room for Bouman, the Ravens placed Kyle Boller, Baltimore’s first-round draft pick in 2003 on Injured Reserve.
Boller started 42 career games for Baltimore and was slated to compete with Troy Smith to open the season under center, but a shoulder injury suffered in the Ravens’ preseason contest with the Minnesota Vikings on Aug. 16 hasn’t allowed him to practice in weeks.
Smith was diagnosed with a tonsils infection that required a hospital stay and antibiotics last week. The former Heisman Trophy winner, who lost what seems to be 15-20 pounds, is still far from being able to play.
That left Flacco as the sole signal-caller on the Ravens’ roster.
Bouman comes to Charm City with 42 career games played and six starts under his belt. The St. Cloud State product entered the league in 1997 and has spent time with Minnesota, New Orleans, Green Bay and Jacksonville, completing 129 of 230 attempts for 1,683 yards, 11 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He possesses a 75.3 career passer rating.
Bouman was selected over Joey Harrington and Chris Simms, both of whom also came to Baltimore for a workout this week.
"We thought he was the best fit for us," said head coach John Harbaugh. "He’s been in the offense before. He had a very good workout. The other guys had good workouts as well, but we thought that he was the best fit for us at this time.” |
