Considering that I don't feel either player fits into this teams long range plans, it might (and I stress "MGHT" be a good idea to take a shot with Chad Jackson.

Jackson is very young at 23, has good speed and good size.

He hasn't lived up to his potential yet, but was said to be looking good in the offseason workouts.

He played poorly in preseason, but then again, did not have Tom Brady throwing him the ball in any of the games.

Perhaps a change of scenery back to the locale of his college days might help in part to resurrect his career.

He's cheap, and with potential WR issues in the upcoming offseason (Williams FA? Northcutt another year older - potential release?, Matt Jones?....) it might be a good idea to snag Jackson with an eye on the future.

Just something to ponder while we wait for the real season to get underway.

Doubt it, highly doubt it. Jackson wont last long as a free agent, but I dont see us needing another one right now. Porter, Williams, Northcutt, Walker, Jones, and Williamson offer more than enough on offense based on history, pre-season performances and skill sets. So I dont see it even being a thought in this front offices grand scheme of things. I'd say Jackson ends up in Miami, Kansas City, Tennesse, Cincinnatti, Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, or Philidalpheia before he landed here. Thats a team from each conference from each division that would probably look at him. I'd even go as far as to claim that Tampa Bay or Denver would look at him.

While I don't know much about him, cutting a DB seems a bit tough.

We have enough depth now but any injury could make us thin.

Witherspoon is a CB but fits better as a punt returner. He is a bit small to be a full time CB, should the need arise.

I would love him to prove me wrong, and become a shut down corner.

no....no....no

Why would we cut guys that made our team for a guy that didn't make another team? ...since we already have 6 wide outs...!

Unless he is a top WR who puts us over the top, no. What would be the point?

Buckethead....

how about this?

Add Jackson from waivers to 53 man roster, then,

Cut Thomas Williams from the 53, as he is PS eligible, and add Th Williams to the PS, and remove one of the current PS guys, like say Chris Brown.

We'd still have 6 LB's on the active 53 in the above scenario. Thats plenty.

Lets make all of those moves for a wide out that isn't good!

No wonder you are such a smart guy TMD!

Yeah, but lets be serious here....Fudge and Prioleau are not in the long term plans of this team. IMO, either or both could be cut at some point during the season even with no Chad Jackson addition.

They already have Nelson, Sensabaugh, Br Williams & Nkang for the Safety position. along with either one of Fudge/ Prioleau that they still could keep in the above C Jackson scenario.

Can Jackson play special teams?

Fudge and Prioleau are special teamers and depth.

Why take away from that and add yet another WR?

Chad Jackson is not good...why would we want him?......we have wide outs....if we wanted to keep a project either Hoag or Woods would still be on the team!
