| Was said to have had a GREAT offseason/ OTA's.
Played poorly in preseason games, but had Brady throwing to him in none of those games.
A better QB might have helped Jackson look better in preseason.
Dude has speed. Rare speed. Can't "teach" that.
Good size as well. 6' 1", 215. Thats like Jimmy Smith type stature.
Jeez, am I talking my self into making a case for the Jags giving him a look???

Congratulations to the 2008 WORLD Champions, your Philadelphia Phillies!

| | History tells me to stay away from Gator WRs...especially ones with a bum knee. In all seriousness though, he was cut from a team that is lacking WR depth and is looking for anyone to step up. Doesn't say much for the guy. He was finally healthy this year too. I actually thought he might replace Stalworth and have a pretty good year for the Pats. Just goes to show that playing WR in the NFL is more than a 4.32 forty-time and straight line speed. Anyone that watched Gator football knew that Chad Jackson was taken way to high anyway. He was OK at Florida, but he never played as fast as he ran at the combine. He was just another example of how scouts/coaches fell in love with his combine stats and just another workout warrior. Now, if we didn't already have brought in Troy then I might take a flying on Jackson, but we don't have a spot for him now. I'll pass. Besides, if all we wanted was speed we could have just kept Brousard.

| Aren't the Florida Gators the Jaguars farm club?
Just thought it would be of interest to the many Gator fans on this board, as well as the people who will undoubtably be calling for the Jags to take a look.
I wouldn't be one of those that would be recommending the Jags bother with Chad Jackson, tho.

thats why the thread is titled "devils advocate argument...."
Just trying illustrate all points of view.
Does it change my gut instinct on this one? No.
But looking at the pro's as well as the cons, helps you to make a more educated decision.

| | If the Pats dump a WR....might not be worth it. This was a guy they spent a lot of time being patient on.Brady himself might have had issues making him look good and communicating with. But, he will find a new team soon likely.I was very shocked they cut him today. |

| Along with Chad Jackson being a major disappointment, Jackson being cut by the Patriots speaks volumes of their overall WR corp. My guess is Jackson didn't offer enough on Special Teams for the Patriots to warrant remaining patient with him. On the other hand, Kelley Washington is one of the best Special Teams players in the NFL.

| | Absolutely, opjagfan91. For some teams, Special Teams is the most important criteria for the bottom 1/3 of their roster.

| I have no doubt that Frank Frangie will be suggesting the Jags add Chad Jackson.
