| Nice to see that the Patriots can screw up high choices, too....
per rotoworld:
Chad Jackson - WR - New England Patriots Aug 31, 2008
Patriots waived WR Chad Jackson.
Continuing a long line of Florida receiver busts. Jackson had all the ability in the world, but in his third season couldn't beat out journeyman Jabar Gaffney. The 36th pick overall in 2006 wound up giving New England just four total catches. Because of his talent, Jackson will get another shot.

| "Because of his talent, Jackson will get another shot. "
Lines like this annoy me in what's supposed to be objective reporting.
.. on vince young
David: he will find a way to throw this game away
David: even tho they already lost
Naddy: i need chargers to get a pick 6 to help out my playoff challenge
David: me too
David: that'd be nice

Aren't the Florida Gators the Jaguars farm club?
Just thought it would be of interest to the many Gator fans on this board, as well as the people who will undoubtably be calling for the Jags to take a look.
I wouldn't be one of those that would be recommending the Jags bother with Chad Jackson, tho.

| That's surprising. Throughout the OTA's and the beginning of training camp, Belichick was praising Chad Jackson. I guess he just didn't play well in the preseason.

| | He was finally healthy this year too. I actually thought he might replace Stalworth and have a pretty good year for the Pats. Just goes to show that playing WR in the NFL is more than a 4.32 forty-time and straight line speed. Anyone that watched Gator football knew that Chad Jackson was taken way to high anyway. He was OK at Florida, but he never played as fast as he ran at the combine. He was just another example of how scouts/coaches fell in love with his combine stats and just another workout warrior.

...so that being said.....do you think the Jags should take a look?
Actually, I don't even know where Jackson could fit on this roster. They aren't going to cut one of the existing WR's for him, and I highly doubt they'd carry 7 WR's on a 53 man roster, even though one other NFL team is currently doing just that (Jets)
If the coaches believed they could resurrect Jackson's career, who on the 53 man roster could they possibly waive in lieu of Jackson?

| | I'd say they could get rid of a LB. In Vic's article it mentioned that we kept seven LB's? Considering Peterson, Smith, Ingram, and Durant is really all we need IMO, maybe along with a backup, keeping seven is kind of absurd. Our LB corps is too strong for us to keep seven. So if we were ever to take on another receiver I'd say we could make a cut at LB. |
