no surprises.. except maybe Bryant, but he wasn't all that good. The Fernando Bryant cut surprised me, especially considering that there was at least one report earlier this month that he was performing very well for the Patriots. I'm not sure if injuries and or age caught up to ' Nando but I admit that my reaction when the Lions released him was a mistake in judgment on my part. Having said all of this, I wish Fernando Bryant nothing but the best. He's a class act all the way!

Thomas was with Detroit. He was with the Bills last year. Toefield was with Carolina. What made Kiwaukee Thomas' task in making the Lions roster more difficult is he wasn't signed by the team until the week leading up to the 2nd pre-season game. This on top of the fact that he was coming off a season ending groin injury when he was with the Bills the previous season. As it turned out, Ramzee Robinson, last year's Mr. Irrelevant, ( who many of you probably remember from his SEC days with ' Bama ), is at least for the time being the Lions # 5 CB. With at least one roster move inevitable in the next few days ( Lions don't have a legit Kickoff Returner on the roster ), it's far from a given that Robinson will remain on the 53 man roster.

Why? He isn't a flashy pass rusher or anything, but a solid player. Guys who do what Wynn do are tough cuts and last a while in the NFL. |
