QB Chris Simms was cut today.

I'd like the Jags to take a look, but am not really expecting them to.

Congratulations to the 2008 WORLD Champions, your Philadelphia Phillies!

monk would be a nice practice squad guy. i would also look at josh barrett, and maybe even consider willie anderson as really good depth tho i doubt he wants to be a backup.

Rashean the I-N-T Machine Mathis- best CB in the game
TMD's "predictions" so far for 08 season:
-Minnesota and Philly in the NFC championship game with Minnesota in the Superbowl
-Denver Broncos in the AFC championship game
-Houston a top 5 rushing team in the 09 season
-Houston seeded higher in the playoffs than the jags
- jags finishing 9-7 at best
- Browns finish better than the Jags
-Jags finish last in the AFC South after a bad showing in the preseason
TMD and I have a bet for $100 on the Jags wins
-Denver winning the AFC West LOL
-Bengals over Jags 24-21

Monk is nothing special, IMO.

Stigma (8/30/2008)
Perhaps some thought should be given to bringing in Ahmad Brooks. This from ProFootballTalk.com...

The other notable in an eventful day for the team is that Ahmad Brooks, the linebacker the Bengals spent a third-round pick on in the 2006 supplemental draft, was waived. Brooks tore his groin and was put on injured reserve last November, and earlier this year charged with misdemeanor assault after a woman accused him of punching her in the eye. Character issues are no stranger to Brooks.

I wouldn't mind that as long as there is no future suspension pending, could be the next Ray Lewis with a strong mentor like Del Rio or Mike Pete. He was a potential top 5 draft pick the season before he left college and looked a beast his rookie year for the Bengals. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aErFwwUf9XE

His potential when healthy would surely make Del Rio and Duffner salivate, although I can see Weaver giving this one a no-no.

I hear Jim Brown is available. But if we signed him, then it would just make it hard for Fred to catch him in career yards. Maybe sign Magic Johnson as a TE instead.

I'm intrigued by Brooks as well but don't know how he'd fit into our plans for the future although he would provide better depth and I am not a big fan of Thomas Williams. I also like Monk and McDougle.

The Mad Dog (8/30/2008)
I'd bring in both Brooks & McDougle

I'd take McDougle. He's finally showing something after all his injuries (and gunshot wound).

I'd rather keep Hawkins than take a flyer on the old or injured like McDougle and Brooks.

If I'm looking around, I'm looking for an improvement at a given position. For instance, is there a RB better than Washington. Is there a DT better than Kennedy or a TE better than Angulo. Is there a LB better than Thomas Williams, a S better than Fudge, or a P better than Podlesh. I'm looking for clear-cut upgrades. That said, I don't get Rudi because it wouldn't be fair to him. He's too good of a RB to hardly ever play.

This is a great idea. Let's cut all the players we have on this team and replace them with roster rejects. Sounds like a great plan to me. It really doesn't matter that those people were released for a reason. Simply because they were on another team, they have to be better than players Shack Harris kept. Right Chihooahooa?
