POnca (8/31/2008) Who was the last Jaguar player who was signed from another team after roster cuts and actually made an impact?
OK, so there aren't many who do.
But, that doesn't mean you fold up and quit and just assume that no one is out there that can help upgrade the team.
IMO, the personnel dept should always be doing their due dilligence in seeking out potential upgrades. Even if we're only talking about upgrading the 5th DE, or the 4th DB, 3rd RB, etc etc -By doing so you are still improving the roster.
As for players cut around this time that made an impact? I remember Lawyer Milloy being one of those.just as one example. I know there are more.
Right. Even if they're not going to be big time players, some of these guys have potential to be role players. Heck, not everyone who gets cut is a terrible player; in fact, some are guys who are quite good, but just don't fit in with the team that cut them.

.JagMan. (8/31/2008) Jerome McDougle is interesting, if Jack and Shack and company believe he's better or an upgrade over Brent Hawkins then we should look at him
I like Dre Moore, DT, Maryland who was cut by Tampa he'd be nice for our Practice Squad
Andre Woodson is interesting if we would like to add him to our Practice Squad
I'm hearing buzz that the Giants may be looking at getting McDougle, to the dismay of some Eagles fans. I think he may surprise some people.
As for Woodson, I've already spoken on him -- I think we'd be better off drafting a QB this year.
Giants are reportedly close to signing McDougle.
I see -- looks like the reports were well-founded, after all.
It would be pretty funny if he wound up performing well on the Giants.

Update:
McDougle has signed with the Giants...
1 year/ 1 million.
Congratulations to the 2008 WORLD Champions, your Philadelphia Phillies!

There you have it. I actually hope he does well, after all he's been through.

Fargin (8/31/2008) Again don't ever tell me what I can or cannot post! That's fine with me. I can't dictate what you say or when you say it. I'll give you some advice though. You can't keep saying what you're saying and be taken seriously. ON TOPIC: Kenton Keith was cut by the Colts(he was beat out by Mike Hart, who was one of their best players in camp). Do you guys think he would be an upgrade over Chauncey? I don't really remember seeing him play but he's made some splashes in the league. I remember a few months ago Keith got arrested outside a night club and pulled the whole "Do you know who I am routine on the cop?". As Jim Rome said, "If you have to ask him he either doesn't know or doesn't care."

Anyway, can anyone answer the question that once a player is cut, does that automatically make him a street FA? I ask, because the best street FA we've signed is Jimmy Smith. The most recent - Sammy Knight?

The most recent - Sammy Knight? If you play out your contract until it expires around March 1, then you become a "true" free agent. Becomming a free agent any other way makes you a "street" free agent.
