First let me say that I believe that the Jags will re-sign Khalif Barnes to a 4 year 26 Mil dollar contract, with 13 Mil guaranteed. This contract is a bit better than Tony Pashos so hopefully he signs this contract.

I also believe that they will re-sign Reggie Williams and will make an offer to retain Mike Peterson. Ultimately the Jags offer will be the best that Peterson gets in Free Agency.

Going into this draft the Jags will be thinking about creating more depth for their roster. I have the Jags ending with an 11-5 record and drafting 26th in Rd 1.

Rd 1(26) Jamon Meredith - OLT - So. Carolina - 6'5" 298 Lbs 5.09 /40

The Jags draft a backup OLT who could replace Khalif by his thrid season.

Rd 2(58): Antoine Caldwell - OC - Alabama - 6'3" 305 Lbs 5.12/40

Jags draft a backup OC that the team hopes will start by his 3rd season.

Rd 3(90): Tim Jamison - DE - Michigan - 6'3" 265 Lbs 4.83/40

Jags draft a backup DE to help with the D-Line rotation.

Rd 4(122): Tiquan Underwood - WR - Rutgers - 6'1" 185 Lbs 4.46/40

Underwood is a bit slight in the frame, but offers a deep threat potential.

Rd 5(154): Dorell Scott - DT - Clemson - 6'4" 310 Lbs 5.02/40

Scott is stout against the run but can put some pressure on the passer.

Rd 6(186): Anthony Hill - TE - N.C. State - 6'5" 265 Lbs 4.85/40

Hill is coming off an ACL injury, but as a Jr. he was a weapon in the middle of the field. He will be 2 years removed from his surgery, so he could be somebody special.

I like the thought behind most of the picks though I will admit that at this point in the year I don't know too much about next year's prospects but I do have a few questions. One, do you think we will be able to find a solid LT at the end of round one with starting potential. Two, would we really try out another fast reciever with a slight build or any reciever at all? I'd really like to see a running back taken depending on how Washington is used, or isn't used, this year.

I'm thinking along the lines of (mostly positions drafted in particular round and not necessarily actual player)

RD 1    WR  Jeremy Maclin  Missouri  (assuming he enters the draft, of course)

RD 2    RB   James Davis Clemson (might be gone depending on draft order)

RD 3    OT  Fenuki Tupou Oregon

RD 4    QB  Brian Hoyer Michigan St.

RD 5    WR Ramses Barden Cal Poly-SLO

RD 6    DT Jervonte Jackson Florida Atlantic

RD 1 WR

This is where I stopped reading.

NO.

Center, Left Tackle, Defensive End, and Safety should be addressed first. You can find a receiver late and not have it be such a risk.

NO.

I fully expect that as many as 6 OTs could be drafted in Rd 1 of the 2009 draft. Here is how I rank the top OLTs.

1. Andre Smith - Alabama (Jr.)

2. Eugene Monroe - Virginia

3. Michael Oher - Mississippi

4. Ciron Black - LSU (Jr.)

5. Jamon Meredith - South Carolina

6. Sam Young - Notre Dame (Jr.)

7. Xavier Fulton - Illinois - borderline Rd 1

Stop reading? A risk? Are you watching ESPN, too?

I'm skeptical if Maclin turns pro he'll be around when Jacksonville picks considering he had over 2,200 yards total offense as a freshman, but I think I'd consider drafting him if he is.

I truly believe that the Jags need to concentrate once more on acquiring further quality depth on the Offensive line. Richard Collier can not be counted on to be a quality starter at either OT spot and the Jags could use a young Center just in case the team decides not to re-sign Brad Meester. I think the 2009 draft could be used to acquire this depth along the Offensive line, much like the 2008 draft was used to acquire the talent at the DE position.

Is Sam Young doing well enough to leave school after his junior season?

If Sam Young projects as a Rd 1 pick then I think he will come out. In fact he might come out if he projects as a high Rd 2 pick.
