"Merriman underwent surgery to repair cartilage damage five months ago but has had persistent pain in the knee during training camp. He traveled to Birmingham to have the knee looked at by Dr. James Andrews, the surgeon who performed the operation."

I guess once you get on them, you can't heal up without roids.

I find it odd he's having a permanent position with FSN's pre-game show.

ESPN is reporting he has a torn ligament, and he might need season ending surgery!

I saw wre he had something to the knee done earlier in the offseason. Was able to practice some but had pain.

Went to the guru Dr. Andrews and from what I read from that article it doesn't look good. Season ending, not sure.

I will try to find that article.

If that paper has it, there must be at least a little something to it.

The article I read was about him seeing Dr. Andrews within the past week or so and that he couldn't do much for it. The article went on to say that if Andrews couldn't do much then his season could be in jeopardy. Andrews is a big time sports Doc, so yeah, if he can't do much you may be nuts and bolts....screwed.

You don't waste Dr. James Andrews' time if it's minor, so the 1st time, the cartilage repair had to be bad.  2nd time though, we are talking PCL...

Sprained in '05 http://www.chargers.com/news/headlines/news-1125212400.htm

Sprained again in Dec '07 http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3149230

It could be a full TEAR now, and he MIGHT BE in denial... Earlier this week Dr. Andrews in Alabama, today Specialist in New York...

"He said he might not be finished visiting specialists... and could go to Miami for a consultation today before returning to San Diego. One source close to Merriman said the doctors he has seen have been surprised he has been able to play with the condition his knee is in."
