I think if they were only $1 mil away from completing the deal that maybe Jacksonville should have just offered up the million and gotten things done.

As far as the numbers on what the Jags offered him, I think that's fair. If they hadn't traded up for Harvey Baltimore probably wouldn't have drafted him so he'd probably been a few spots lower and might not have gotten offered as much as what Jacksonville offered him. So he might be getting more than what he'd gotten in the first place.

Ellis was a number 7 pick anyway, was Harvey a #8 pick anyway? Doubt it.

Who cares? Play ball!

The only bright spot of this whole mess, is this trade to get this guy might be the straw that broke the camels back for Harris.

This hopefully will be the last horrid first round decision that he makes for us.

I know you hate Shaq and his drafting smarts.

Harvey will sign before the season starts. IF he has a pedestrian rookie year (Mario Williams) will he be a bust to you?

If he puts up 10+ sacks is Shaq still horrible?

Funny Thing is TMD says no excuses for NFL GMs/Coaches/Teams (Jags bashing most of the time), but he goes and calls foul when the brownies get smacked for 30 in a half.Let me guess, Ken Dorsey is the Savior of the Browns.AMAZING... Why the fluke plays excuse? What happened to no excuses TMD???????

When it comes to consistancy of his takes, TMD flops more than the girls at Wacko's.

Show me exactly where the inconsistencies are?

Because I correctly pointed out that many of the scores against the Browns were scores that resulted from big plays from turnovers??

Sorry, but thats not "excuses" those are facts.

By comparison, the Jaguars weren't getting beat 19-0 after 3 Q, against the worst team in football from last year, because of a few fluky turnover/ TD type plays - the Jags were cosistently getting beaten at the LOS that game.

Big difference.

Not to mention that Cleveland was playing the league Champions from last year, compared to a team coming off a 1-15 record.

Congratulations to the 2008 WORLD Champions, your Philadelphia Phillies!

This was shacks best offseason by far, I think Shack is finding new breath not breaking the camels back.

how can Harvey be a bad pick already, got to wait and see...................

shacks best offseason??

Porter has yet to make camp/ 30 ML/ 10 MIL gauranteed....

They backed up the brinks truck for a CB whose prior team/ fans are laughing at us for & apparently not missing him at all.....

We traded almost our entire draft for a player who is STILL a holdout and was expected to be the difference in the pass rush this year - deny it all you want, but you dont make a deal like that unless you envsion the player making an impact fast.

They overpay for a backup who wasn't even as good s the guy he is replacing. Lemon is arguably not even as good as Brunell, even at current....& Brunell could have been got cheap.

If this was one of Shacks "better" offseasons, no wonder I cannot stand the job he's done.

look the injury's are not shacks fault, you cant predict injurys. the holdout again not shacks fault you can't predict hold outs.

IMO this is the best offseason the jaguars have had, they saw the holes in the previous season and we went out to make serious attempts to plug guys in.

EVERYONE knows im no shack harris cheerleader, but I can recognize and appreciate the good just like i can recognize and hate the bad.

Lemme tell you something....

Theres no excuses in football.

NFL coaches & GM's are fired all the time, based on the result of their work. Look at Billick last year - his Ravens team went 5-11 or something - his team was decimated with injuries. Too bad, sometimes. Thats the way it is.

Is this holdout Shacks fault? Nope. But guess what - what really doesn't matter. The bottom line is Shack made the deal to give up all of that for a player who has given us zippo - hasn't spent 1 day in camp learning & preparing for the season - and is now highly unlikely to be that impact player this season as they hoped.

End result - wasnt samrt to give all of those draft choices up for this guy. i.e. bad decision.

Thats the way it goes. The NFL isn't about "excuses' for why things didn't work out - you're judged on if they do or if they don't.

If they do - you're successful. And lots of times that is merely the by product of having some good luck & good fortune. Shack has not had that. Oh well. Too bad. Get someone in here that has better luck, in addition to being a better personnel guy.

But you cannot qualify the move as bad soley because he held out. I understand what you are saying about trading up and all but really if the guy can be a every down DE by his second year and put up 10+ sack/year or somewhere in that vicinity (see Mario Williams) then the move is justified. If his play stinks once he does sign then yeah after 2-3 years of nothing then it is a bad move. You cannot just say oh these guys are injured, bad move signing them, or this guy is holding out after we traded up for him,(which pisses me off as much as everyone else, I live in Gainesville and have to deal with the Gator crowd every day about him) so the move is bad....

Please try and explain that to me.

To the people that are itching to reply to this post saying not to waste my breathe asking him to explain, sit on it. TMD actually talks to me. He must just hate you guys LOL sheeeeeeple j/k

I think Jamal Lewis was on his way to the endzone when he mishandled the handoff resulting in the FR for 6. they were a tleast in the red zone yes?

Mojo Fumbled for like the 4th time ever right at the goal line not resulting in point (I think)

We were getting consistantly beaten at the LOS which is of course a concern but after the "sky fell all over us" after opening day last year when we also got pushed around and smacked in the face at the LOS what did this team do? They turned it around got their act together and fixed the issue. No faith the same thing happens?

How's this for a flop. It's only after about 30 seconds of searching. It shows (In your very words, mind you) that no matter what this team or FO does, you will find a way to crap all over it. It's what you do. It's all you do. (for the most part.) You are able to have intelligent conversations about things and do every now and then. You just aren't capable of doing it consistantly. Your "issues" just won't allow that. Oh, the link:
