Just so you guys know I believe Huff is making the switch from FS to SS this year because he has been so ineffective as a FS and supposedly has looked good at SS.

I'm surprised they're saying that Nelson might be better than Landri. Landri was supposed to be a rare S that comes along only once every several drafts. He was lauded by several head coaches as a dream defender with unreal athletic ability.

had reggie stayed in school for his senior year and come out in this draft he would have probably been a top ten pick and they would have been saying the same thing.

landri is a rare talent with his size and speed, but nelson has great ballskills and just as much athletacism.  they are differnt kind of players.  i don't know which one is better but it is good for them to be having this conversation.

and last year we know that he was just grasping the plabook, he still had 82 tackles 5 picks and 2 ff.  that is  recipie for a pro bowl in the next couple of years.

We will all have to make the choice between what is right, and what is easy.

Give freely unto others, be brave in the face of your enemies, love those who hate you for those who hate you will only win if you hate them back, be generous with praise-it costs nothing, love all men, and fear not for he will come.

There will come a day when the courage of good men will fade away and the tyranny of the weak will destroy mankind..., but today does not have to be that day!

remembe this day men, for it is the curse of man that they forget...

And how many Jaguars games did you watch?

Almost every single play, no matter where on the field, you will see number 25 close to the ball.

Ok, here to set the record strait.

why am I not surprised jagsabc said antrelle rolle is better than nelson?? LOL.. the same guy that didnt work at CB, so they had to move him to safety and draft another first round CB... jagsabc= mini TMD

anyways.. bob sanders is a SS not a FS

OJ otawge had alot of INT's last year, but also was one of the worst safeties as far as blown coverages. He gave up a lot, and he was not a rookie, so, that should not have happend.

Michael Griffin is not better than nelson, hardly so. Griffin played with a D-line last year that played its brains out. Griffin has no where near the speed and athletic ability of nelson, which are 2 things that stick out most in a FS.

Nelson is better than landry, and played like it last year. landry had more tackles, but he played SS. he didnt get an INT until the playoffs. Before the combine, scouts loved nelson's playmaking ability, ball hawking skills, and even felt he was faster in pads than landry.

o, and btw, huff was a SS and is being moved to FS this year, not the other way around. and I do believe rhoads is a SS as well.

Rashean the I-N-T Machine Mathis- best CB in the game
TMD's "predictions" so far for 08 season:
-Minnesota and Philly in the NFC championship game with Minnesota in the Superbowl
-Denver Broncos in the AFC championship game
-Houston a top 5 rushing team in the 09 season
-Houston seeded higher in the playoffs than the jags
- jags finishing 9-7 at best
- Browns finish better than the Jags
-Jags finish last in the AFC South after a bad showing in the preseason
TMD and I have a bet for $100 on the Jags wins
-Denver winning the AFC West LOL
-Bengals over Jags 24-21

From the moment Griffin became a starter, you are correct.

It's close, but from week 9 on (when Griffin was inserted into starting lineup) Griffin outplayed Nelson.

Congratulations to the 2008 WORLD Champions, your Philadelphia Phillies!

Reggie has way more upside than Griffin. Griffin has potential to be a very good player, Reggie has potential to be a star player.

I think Griffin has the potential to be the best Safety taken from that draft class.

Griffin is such a well rounded player, he actually has the higher upside over Nelson.

Now, Griffin may never be as good as Nelson in one specific area, being coverage ability...but when you factor in the other aspects of playing the S position, such as tackling, forcing fumbles, smarts as in making the right decision in coverage consistently, special teams (blocked kicks), leadership, intangibles....I'd give Griffin the advantage in many of the categories.

Smarts comes with experience. A free safety's best qualities are his coverage ability. Reggie isn't scared to hit someone, but a free safety's game isn't about forcing fumbles or special teams, and who knows who has better leadership ability right now. It's about disrupting the passing game, and Reggie has way more ability to do that than Griffin.
