| Let me be clear about one thing... I support the rights of the G/B/L/TG/TS/CD community. Murdered Gay Boy’s Family Blames School for Letting Him Wear Makeup VENTURA, California — The family of a gay teenager who was fatally shot in class blames the school district for allowing their son to wear makeup and feminine clothing to school — factors the family claims led to the death. The parents and brother of 15-year-old Larry King of Oxnard filed a personal injury claim against the Hueneme school district seeking unspecified damages for not enforcing the dress code, The Ventura County Star reported. King, an eighth-grader at E.O. Green Junior High School, was shot in February. Classmate Brandon McInerney pleaded not guilty to the shooting last week. He was charged as an adult and also faces a charge of a committing a hate crime. The family's claim, filed last week in Ventura County Superior Court, said administrators and teachers failed to enforce the school's dress code when King wore feminine clothing and makeup to school. His parents, Dawn and Gregory King, said faculty members knew their son had "unique vulnerabilities" and was subject to abuse because of his sexual orientation. King was a ward of the court and living at a shelter for abused, neglected and emotionally troubled children at the time of the shooting. A call for comment to district Superintendent Jerry Dannenberg was not immediately returned. State law requires individuals to file a claim before proceeding with a lawsuit against a public agency. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,404502,00.html

I think they need to take a hard look in the mirror.

Something bad happened.....Sue somebody! Here's what I think is funny: You get people on this MB that defend Harvey and his right to play the system to obtain the highest possibly salary, but they'll jump all over families for suing to take advantage of a broken system. Of course, I don't think they should get a dime, but I don't think athletes should be paid as much as they are either. I recognize it's a broken system, so eff it...I'd do the same thing. I'm not picking on your post, Jones. I don't even know that you've weighed in on the Harvey discussion. I'm just going with an unpopular opinion today because it's just the mood I'm in.

I always come to my conclusions by careful, scientific observation.
But only if the results of said careful, scientific observation fully corroborate my biased opinion. If It Ain't Dutch, It Ain't Much

Those are two totally different things...Harvey is trying to get paid for a job that his is going to do, he isn't going to get his check and then go sit on his arse. These people seem to be trying to get money for doing nothing!! Their kid wasn't even with them and now all of a sudden they care???

Court appareances and law suits can be very taxing. You could even argue that they lost a kid, so it's not EXACTLY like they would be getting paid for nothing. I'm jsut saying...

Is it the same? Harvey is negotiating his contract as every NFL player has to.
A lawsuit is an option that these people are choosing to do. It's not a SOP, it's a choice, and a reach.
Does every family have to sue someone when someone dies?

I feel bad that they lost a kid. But losing a kid shouldn't be winning the lotto either. The story says that he was in state custody, so he had been taken from his family for some reason. My point was that that didnt take care of him when he was alive but now they want a check...

When I was visiting my brother in Connecticut for my nephew's birthday last month I saw a story on the news about a Providence girl who drowned in the ocean because they were having a birthday party on a sandbar. Tide comes in and the girl saves another person but that causes her to drown.
They're suing the city it happened in because there wasn't enough signs warning them of the danger... the father, divorced, says the mother is trying to make money off of a tragedy and that's reprehensible. Which I agree with. What kind of an 1diot doesn't know the dangers of a sandbar when the tide comes in?
