I always liked Mahelona. It sucks that he was low on the depth chart because they thought Starks would pan out some time. I was pissed when he was cut.

I didn't know he was out there. I never even knew he was on the tacks roster.

Very good dt in college. Why did they cut him Psychoop? Any clue?

They cut him to make room for Robaire Smith. Should have cut Starks.

I think he just replaces Theo Horrocks for the pre-season then we'll cut him

He sounds like a tough guy to find a role for.

His body is made for a 3-4 nose tackle, but his skillset reflects the opposite (one gapper that gets moved fairly easily.)

We've always liked the Hawaiians / Samoans... Aloha, bro!

I agree

I think Roy's (Hawaiin Cuisine resturant at the beach) is the real benefactor of our Hawaiin NFL player connection.

Apparently. I noticed he's wearing #60, which happens to be the same number that they just previously gave to rookie DT Tywain Myles. It looks like Myles only lasted a week.

Unfortunately, Mahelona was active for 10 games in '06, which in turn has me thinking he's not eligible for the Practice Squad. That means he's competing straight out with Kennedy for a possible roster spot as a 5th DT, but it's still thought they'll only carry 4 DTs.

Tywain Myles lasted ONE day and then was cut.

Regarding Practice Squad elligibility, are the games activated tied to the club such that if a guy went to another team and was never activated by the new team he remains elligible for the new team's practice squad?

It just seems that if the elligibility rule described above was instituted league-wide that would keep a lot of players from finding their place in the league.

The rule is not tied to clubs or anything like that. At least as I understand the rule it's rather simple. If you've accrued two seasons you're not eligible. If you've only accrued one, then you're eligible as long as you weren't active for more than nine games. Jesse only accrued one season, but it appears he was active for one game too many.
