.JagMan. (8/6/2008) In response to the guy who posted that Jack has already said Drew will make the roster, that's not true, Jack said that Drew has proven to be much more than a camp body.Jesus H. Christ does everyone on this board look for any reason to pick apart each other's posts. That's not the quote I was thinking of, but what do you think Jack is insinuating with that? Does anybody really think Miller won't make the team? Many scouts predicted Miller would be drafted and I think we really got lucky he wasn't. This really kind of makes up for one of the pick we lost. I don't know how Mad Dog still can't get it through his fat head that Shack and the rest of our management are not only good talent evaluators, but probably top 5 in the league behind maybe Indy, Baltimore, NE, and maybe Dallas. NY is up there too I would think. Hypocrite much? How is that hypocritical? I'm sticking up for the people on this board and for our management, I'm not picking apart every thing he or anybody else is saying. Mad Dog continuousy criticizes our team and everyone else for their opinions. Where have you been? I'm around. What I was getting at was the fact that you started your post criticizing posters for bashing each other. And then you followed that up (in the very same post, mind you) by doing the exact thing that you were just complaining about. See now? Look, I'm not sticking up for TMD. He is what he is. It was more about you being on both sides of the fence. It's not a real big deal, though. Let's not make it one.

| Chooch (8/7/2008)
jj82284 (8/7/2008) I can feel you on that chooch, but if the guy is out of the way, the guy is out of the way. at the center spot the biggest thing is getting the line calls and being athletic enough to get to the second level. very rarely are you going to be head up with a 350 pound two gap nose tackle anymore in this league. i know that he has the strength and getting around this environment will help anyone with their mean streak.I see where you are coming from JJ, but you have to know that if you are going to the playoffs in the AFC, you can bet the house that you are going to have to face either Casey Hampton (Pittsburgh), Jamal Williams (San Diego) or Vince Wilfork (New England), and those aren't guys that you can just "get out of the way." Those are big, strong guys that eat up space and can wreak all kinds of havoc on an Offense. Again, I'm not saying that Miller can't play with these guys, but that he can't play with them right now. 1.)excellent post. very well explained, concise, and to the point. i tip my hat to you on that. 2.) you are absolutely right. at some point you are going to have to have a mean streak, and i never really thought about how many top teams are actually running the 3-4 with dominant nose tackles. 3.)I know that the kid is strong. i know that he did over 30 reps at the combine and has a great work ethic. playing in this camp he is going to have to go against kennedy, meier, hen, and mcdaniel. playing against those guys you are going to have a great look at what he is going to be able to do against the bigger gus in the playoffs. the depth on this team at DT helps give you a look at the future prospects of interior offensive linemen because tey get to practice and be evaluated against one of the best defensive lines in the league. 4.)maybe one or two centers coming out of college can hang anywhere close with pro bowl nose tackles RIGHT NOW. any time you look at a rookie there has to be a lot of projection. i think a kid with his strength and intelligence projects well enough to the center spot that you can take a flyer on a roster spot if he proves himself in camp. but if he is getting pushed out of the point of attack by our front line guys then it will tell on itself.

Stigma (8/2/2008) From what JDR has said, it appears that Meester will NOT be going on IR, so he will be taking up a roster spot even though he will not be able to play. Keeping Drew Miller while keeping a roster spot open for Brad Meester seems to me to be committing too much to the Center position. Accordingly, I would assume that Drew Miller is a long shot to make this roster unless Nwaneri or Norman go down with an injury placing one of them on the IR.well how many lineman do you think that we are really going to keep and how commited do you think that we are to dennis norman. when you look at miller, he is a starting center in the top confrence in the country won a national championship and put up the bar what 34 times. the kid comes in and can pay. any other year he would have probably been taken in the first four rounds on that alone. this is the wierdest draft that any of us have seen. i think that miller has potential to be a starting caliber center/guard in this league and norman is older and more expensive. i think that nwaneri has a great shot in the short term and the long term, but miller to me represents a more realistic solution down the line for meester because nwaneri is going to eventually inherit the guard spot opposite manuwai. He also went undrafted. Sorry, not ever player who plays at Florida or in the SEC is an NFL player. You're going to have to get over that. Norman is 10x the player Miller is right now. Miller's shot on the team is slim, considering he's looked terrible once the pads went on. I hadn't heard that. i had heard nothing but good things about the kid. if you have more information than i do about his performance in pads then i concede and let the preseason dictate because i have been up to my knees in work for a while now. and alfie, we are really going to have to talk about this gator envy. don't hate us because we win. its not our fault. we just have better players. we had an off year last year, but don't worry. we will give all the haters out there plenty more bulletin material when we win the SEC AGAIN and play for a national championship... AGAIN.

| Because you win? Didn't you lose 4 games last year? Haven't you only won 2 national titles in 100 years of existence?
It's nothing to do with envy, it's to do with REALISM.
Do you want to argue about how Leak will be an NFL QB again, or did the "envy" finally succomb you to reality?
Now, I have no clue where you're reading he looks great. He's looked average, at best.

He's looked average, at best.vic said that he has looked good. i am not disputing your input because i was not their. and we have won 2 in the last ten years, and we are poised to make another run this year. while the history is still being built, the current tide is gaining a lot of strength. and i may have been slightly mistaken about Chris leaks value as a BACKUP nfl QB. but that does not quell the breeze of the modern times that is the sheer unmittigated dominance of florida football.
