I would say no. He got smoked in all of the pass rushing drills by the interior lineman. There was also a play where Gerald Sensabaugh blitzed up the middle, punched Miller and then shed him like he was nothing. Not a good sign.

Also, Jordan is probably the worst offensive tackle I have ever seen in my life.

Colon for the Steelers is pretty bad. So was John St Clair.

LOL how soon we forget that the worst, most smack talking OT in the league is the "revolving door" Ephraim Salaam.

Actually he hasn't played bad against us.

Are you kidding me? Lageman on the smartboard last year said Spicers performance last year against him was the most dominant performance he had seen in a long time. Spicer did what ever he wanted. Stats might not show it but it was.

From what JDR has said, it appears that Meester will NOT be going on IR, so he will be taking up a roster spot even though he will not be able to play. Keeping Drew Miller while keeping a roster spot open for Brad Meester seems to me to be committing too much to the Center position. Accordingly, I would assume that Drew Miller is a long shot to make this roster unless Nwaneri or Norman go down with an injury placing one of them on the IR.

well how many lineman do you think that we are really going to keep and how commited do you think that we are to dennis norman.

when you look at miller, he is a starting center in the top confrence in the country won a national championship and put up the bar what 34 times.  the kid comes in and can pay.  any other year he would have probably been taken in the first four rounds on that alone.  this is the wierdest draft that any of us have seen.  i think that miller has potential to be a starting caliber center/guard in this league and norman is older and more expensive.

i think that nwaneri has a great shot in the short term and the long term, but miller to me represents a more realistic solution down the line for meester because nwaneri is going to eventually inherit the guard spot opposite manuwai.

I really wouldn't be surprised if Drew Miller is the future center for the Jags. With the injury trend that Meester has been following, that could be the near future. Meester is also 31 years old with a lot of wear and tear. I'm really surprised Miller wasn't drafted in the first place, but it worked out for us, and Jack even said he'll make the team. They are also both the same size, and hopefully Meester's work ethic in the weight room will rub off. They are also both very intelligent with great educational backgrounds, a key for that position. I'd say this could work out perfectly for Miller, giving him at least a couple of years to be groomed before Meester retires.

great point.  i didn't know exactly how old he was.  and this isn't the 30 but playing every game every year like he was 24.  this is the okay bicep here bicep there ankle here thirty.  its time to get younger at that position and we got lucky getting a kid like miller.

The thing that I think D. Miller does not have and that he needs to work on/develop to be a significant member of the Offensive Line is he is not a mauler.

He seems to be (from the games that I watched of him last season) a pretty good technician, but he doesn't crush people the way that B. Meester has shown. If there is one thing about this team's Offensive Line, it is that they are big, tough, strong, maulers. For crying out loud, we turned a RT into a RG last season and arguably got better.

I am not saying that Miller can't develop that ability, but it doesn't seem like he has that specific tool in his hip pocket just yet.

I can feel you on that chooch, but if the guy is out of the way, the guy is out of the way.  at the center spot the biggest thing is getting the line calls and being athletic enough to get to the second level.  very rarely are you going to be head up with a 350 pound two gap nose tackle anymore in this league.  i know that he has the strength and getting around this environment will help anyone with their mean streak.

In response to the guy who posted that Jack has already said Drew will make the roster, that's not true, Jack said that Drew has proven to be much more than a camp body.
Jesus H. Christ does everyone on this board look for any reason to pick apart each other's posts. That's not the quote I was thinking of, but what do you think Jack is insinuating with that? Does anybody really think Miller won't make the team? Many scouts predicted Miller would be drafted and I think we really got lucky he wasn't. This really kind of makes up for one of the pick we lost. I don't know how Mad Dog still can't get it through his fat head that Shack and the rest of our management are not only good talent evaluators, but probably top 5 in the league behind maybe Indy, Baltimore, NE, and maybe Dallas. NY is up there too I would think.

Hypocrite much?

I see where you are coming from JJ, but you have to know that if you are going to the playoffs in the AFC, you can bet the house that you are going to have to face either Casey Hampton (Pittsburgh), Jamal Williams (San Diego) or Vince Wilfork (New England), and those aren't guys that you can just "get out of the way." Those are big, strong guys that eat up space and can wreak all kinds of havoc on an Offense.

Again, I'm not saying that Miller can't play with these guys, but that he can't play with them right now.

He also went undrafted.

Sorry, not ever player who plays at Florida or in the SEC is an NFL player. You're going to have to get over that.

Norman is 10x the player Miller is right now. Miller's shot on the team is slim, considering he's looked terrible once the pads went on.

Del Rio was right!

How is that hypocritical? I'm sticking up for the people on this board and for our management, I'm not picking apart every thing he or anybody else is saying. Mad Dog continuousy criticizes our team and everyone else for their opinions. Where have you been?
