What is the fascination with fantasy football?  I sit in MY stadium and listen to fans of MY team make a statement that goes like this:

"I hope we win but I want "player X" from the other team to score 2 touchdowns.

What the heck is that?  I want the opposing QB to throw 6 picks.  I want my Jags defense to pitch a shutout.  I want our offense to score 40 plus every single game.  This fantasy garbage baffles the heck out of me.

Too bad the price of experience is getting old!

I love fantasy football and I love the Jags.  It's just a fun way of keeping up on players around the league.  Of course if I have Peyton Manning and he's playing the Jags, I want him to struggle.  I never root for players against my team.

It's really just entertainment for most people.  That's how I view it anyway.

I've never tried it. Mostly due to time constraints (If that's believable )

One of these days, I'll give it a whirl just to see what all the hubub is about.

This will be my third year playing. When my fantasy players are playing opposite the Jags, I couldn't care less about my points. I want to see my running back literally eaten by Big John. So long as he doesn't have to carted off the field afterwards for a bathroom break.

Fantasy football makes almost every game interesting, whereas the pedestrian cincy vs oakland game means nothing to you.  You can have a player in the game, your weekly opponent will have somebody playing, or the guy tops in the league will have his superstar injured on the 3rd play.  It is not to be taken seriously (unless you are the virginal type) but can be fun if you think you know which players are going to put up better stats than others.  Is marques colston gonna have a great year?  How about derek anderson?  How about who do you take overall with the first pick??  When your Qb goes down, who is left for you to pick up?  Will tavaris jackson or matt leinart have the better week?  It can be fun stuff.

There is an element of gambling in fantasy football.

Most leagues have an entry fee , and a cash prize for the top three or so performers as defined by league rules.

Even in free leagues, winners get to think of themselves as having football saavy... Bragging and chest pounding ensue.

Much like here.

I sometimes struggle in Fantasy because my homerism gets in the way. As long as my Jags win I am good to go though.

Yea, it helps you keep up with players around the league and makes other games more interesting.  Before or after Jags games, or if the Jags have a bye, I still look forward to watching games to see how my fantasy players are doing.  It makes every game interesting.

It's fun with a group of friends with money involved too. You should try it. I know a couple of guys that have their g/f's involved and it helps them to understand the game more and they are more into it instead of having that appearance that my b/f dragged me to watch this football game.
