Jaguarss96 (6/30/2008) quinn gray knows our offence and performed at a high level during a 3 game road trip last year and went 2-1. Y not bring him back and let him and lemon battle for the number 2 spot? hes unemployed at the moment, i doubt he would decline, plus hes better than the bums we have at third string anyways.Quinn Gray was a cancer in the locker room who truly believed that he was a starting caliber QB in the NFL. He put very little effort into his conditioning, and he spent the bulk of his time trying to undermine the starting QB because he wanted the job. Yes, let's bring him back. The fact that he's still unemployed should tell you all that you need to know about the value of Quinn Gray. The team made no effort to keep him around beyond a minimum wage offer. They were ready to move on. You should too. if we were so worried about him being a cancer why would we bring in Jerry Porter whose been a polyp in the colon of the Raiders for years? No, he was only a problem for Art Shell and the O Coordinator they pulled out of the Bed and Breakfast (NOT a Holiday Inn Express). He got one look at the playbook from the early 70's and said, "You know, coach, I'd love to see if you could trade me."

To be more precise, team chemistry. It's the same reason Byron was let go, he could not accept being a back-up. Cleo has solid ability and excellent potential. He let plays get away from him when he tried to do too much. Hmm, sounds like another QB on our roster. Why not let the guy settle in before you show him the door? This is a solid counterpoint. I hope you are right. I was just one that thought Gray's potential was through the roof. Sorry, I never understand the "Quinn Gray" love fest on this board. I never could see what others saw in him. Maybe under a different set of circumstances, but he has had two opportunities to impress and is now looking for a third.

| Gray has serious potential in this league, and hopefully some team taps into it. That said, if nobody gives him an offer I'd gladly accept him back to play third string. But that's just me.

| copycat781 (6/30/2008) Sorry, I never understand the "Quinn Gray" love fest on this board. I never could see what others saw in him. Maybe under a different set of circumstances, but he has had two opportunities to impress and is now looking for a third.1. He played very well every preseason. 2. He played well in mop-up roles. 3. Until last year, I thought he outplayed Garrard when he had the chance. Gray had a QB rating of about 80 last season when he actually had to play in real games against 1st string defenses. Not terrific, but better than several starters. That's probably partly due the "Cuozzo Syndrome" when a backup looks great for a few games before the opposition catches on. Nonetheless, Gray showed accuracy and the ability to find open receivers. He also showed some running ability. He has been very consistent in his play. Clearly he's not even close to the same level as '07 Garrard, but I thought the '03-06 Gray was better than '03-'06 Garrard. Gray did show signs of concern in '06 when he bounced a couple of passes off of the defenders' chests in the final game. Of course the "locker-room cancer" problem is a whole different matter. A backup QB needs to accept that he's the backup. And as Nate pointed out, he did a poor job preparing prior to the clot game.

| | I probably wouldnt be overly interested in bringing him back unless for a small deal or a cheap 2 year deal something that would allow us to cut him if his personality ever became an issue but for the most part i'd rather go 2 qb's into the season again then if an injury occurs he'd be the first guy i'd probably want the team to sign |

Agree Plus, Quinn Gray burned all his bridges on the way out of town. He wanted a chanced to compete to start, and would accept nothing less. Now, that ship has sailed for a varitey of reasons. The Jaguars wouldn't take him back for a backup role even if he's been humbled by being released by the Texans.

| | Lemon has a years experience as a starter on a pretty piss poor team. Give him a chance. Although...didn't some company called Lemon (Lemmon) manufacture quaaludes? The locker room cancer? I hadn't heard that about Gray. Anyone? If thats the case, leave him where he's at. Maybe he can back up Byron.
I can't discuss **** or **** because I am on double secret probation. | |

| | Garrard wanted a chance to compete for the starting job too... he got several chances and looked good in 05 helping lead the Jags into the play-offs only to have Leftwich start the game against the Pats and lose... there was talk on the message board and in the papers about Garrard should have started the Pats play-off game... Then comes 06 when Leftwich went down again only to have Garrard blow the Jags chances of making the play-offs with a three game suck feast... you could say four but I don't think one game was all his falut... Then 07 rolls around and Leftwich was named the starter in Feb... The only difference between Gray and Garrard was the fact that David kept his mouth shut and accepted his role and a back-up and worked hard ... not causing any trouble in the locker room or on the field... Gray couldn't do this and that's why his arse is out of here... No team needs a cancer in the locker room or on the field... especially a team that's picked as a contender for the Super Bowl...

| | Quinn Gray is not a bum but he's not a gemstone either. He's a serviceable QB who has an ego larger than the State of Florida and won't be coming back to the Jags. They've made their decision on his Jaguar future and in essence he has none. Some other team may sign him hoping to work him into a role on their team. You can bet it won't be here.
