| quinn gray knows our offence and performed at a high level during a 3 game road trip last year and went 2-1. Y not bring him back and let him and lemon battle for the number 2 spot? hes unemployed at the moment, i doubt he would decline, plus hes better than the bums we have at third string anyways.

| | The primary reason the Texans released Gray, was the same reason the Jags didn't offer him a spot when the market rejected him...he's not that good. He's a career backup, at best, with an inflated self-worth. Lemon was paid big backup dollars...let's face it, he's our guy for better or worse this year for the number 2 role. The number 3 spot should, ideally, be a developmental role in hopes of forming and polishing a rough gem. Personally, I am not sold on Paul Smith being this developmental guy...I'm not sure why, just gut. And, with the veteran Lemon on-board, I don't see Bouman being a fit on the roster (just a camp arm and an emergency roster addition in-season if needed). I am hoping a young developmental gun is cut from another team and can be snagged in camp cuts. |

They can afford to give Lemon time to get acquainted with the offense and work on his timing. Let's at least see him in one game before throwing him under the bus. Gray and Leftwich, two QBs already familiar with the offense, are still available, and will probably still be so at the start of the season. If the absolute worse happens, Lemon stinks up the preseason and Garrard is injured, the Jags can always sign one of Gray/Leftwich then. There's no hurry.

| forget the stats. After Garrard went down we were in survival mode. Gray stepped up and went 2-1 on the road. If we lose those games theres no telling how our season ends, and the loss in N.O. was not his fault, our defense got shredded that game. Im not saying hes an all-star, im saying i would take Gray over Lemon any day.

Are we out of ideas for Matt Jones threads? How soon is July 26th? I'd love a fat tub of a locker room cancer to be our backup QB. Wouldn't you?
