I think Matt Ryan went a bit too high.. I think the logic there was that he was something like Cutler in the fact that he had nobody around him and carried his team.. difference being.. Cutler had absolutely nobody around him.

I think Ryan will be ok after 3 years.

I'm kind of pulling for Mike Smith and the Falcons.

I think Ryan went too high as well but for a different reason.  During Cutler's senior year, he had Earl Bennett who I think is better than anyone Ryan had this season.

Ryan lucked out in the sense that this year just so happened to be a weak one for upper echelon QB prospects.  Lots of depth but little elite.  if he had come out the same year Cutler did, Ryan may have been the 4th QB taken.  Young and Leinart had the winning pedigree with the national titles.  And I think Cutler has better physical tools and is a better athlete.  most DI schools were recruiting him as a defensive back.  Vandy was one of the few who recruited him at QB.

You're right. He did have Earl Bennett.. That guy might be a heckuva player in the league.

Yeah.. I agree in regards to if he had come out the same year as Cutler.

Ryan never amazed me. Nothing to warrant the 3rd overall pick..

I like Matt Ryan, he's a cerebral QB, who has a good arm, has a nice release, and looks like he's got a good head on his shoulders........I think his game is going to fit the pro level nicely. Having said that you never pick a rookie QB as a "rooke that will have the biggest impact".

Jerod Mayo, guy is going to be star in this league. He is a great athlete, leader and a team player who can play inside or outside LB. Its just too bad he is a Patriot.

Tyrell Johnson - S

2nd rd pick - Vikings

 TMD on Mike Walker Sep.7:

"because he stinks"

"Why don't you get it? WTH has this player done, besides be an OTA wonder?"

"In the exhibition games, he's shown eggo hands."

"It's like you people are truly shocked/ mystified/ surprised that Harris produced another bust."

Impact can mean many different things.. Patrick Willis was a bad-azz last year.. the Niners still sucked.

Even if Jonathon Stewart broke 2,500 yards rushing.. I still think Carolina's going to suck.

EDIT: and of course I am exaggerating to make a point about how much Carolina stinks.

Stewart might because I think Carolina's pass game is a sitting duck. Delhomme started throwing a Nerf a couple of months ago. That sounds really encouraging. Looks like they might have to go the two back route like Minnesota. What I don't understand about Carolina is why they haven't ever really gone after a big #2 WR to compliment Smith. They signed Keyshawn a few years back, which was good, but hardly the solution. I mean if they have Smith and say Chad Johnson, that'd work. But I think they have been way too passive in the pass department. Smith is good as there is, but he can't throw the ball and then run downfield and catch it. They need another top WR and a really good QB, still, IMHO. The two RB thing is good, but you don't let a guy like Smith wilt on the vine.
