| Anyone who has been to whateveritscalled Stadium in Nashville can attest that one of the major sponsors is Shoe Carnival. Wayne Weaver's Shoe Carnival.
I don't see why Kraft branded foods would let anything stop them from sponsoring the stadium if they wanted to.
Proctor & Gamble owns Gillette and they're based in Cincinati.
That stadium is named Paul Brown. The first coach of The Browns. The Browns play in Cleveland Browns Stadium.
Ironically, Shoe Carnival is based in Evansville, Indiana!
So, sponsors are not mandatory like some folks think, nor locally committed.
In fact there are, by my count, 18 NFL stadiums do not have corporate naming rights.
Including New York, San Francisco, Miami, Chicago and Atlanta. All fairly large cities I think.
I don't see how this whole naming thing has become such a deal around here.

| DAVEPDB2 (6/23/2008) Actually, Maxwell House is owned by non other than: Kraft Foods
As in Bob Kraft, Owner, New England Patriots...
Don't really think he's supporting the cause.
Thing is, a lot of these companies just don't need huge advertisement deals...
Some of the bigger companies that can afford it, are even putting their names on things like a crown, you know, a status symbol in their respective communities...
Like CSX; how many CSX commercials or advertisements do you see?
Not very many, because they don't really cater to the mass general public, which is why it's a waste of money for them to spend 5mil a year for the next ten years to put their name on our stadium for really no reason...
??
What about these sponsors and how the heck does it matter for them?
"Reliant Energy"
"Louisiana-Pacific Building Materials"
"Qualcomm"
"Monster Cables"

We can't be nicknamed mellow yellow. Or...we are the Florida murder capital.....Murderers Row But please...get off the whataburger stadium. That is as lame as their burgers. Wait....I got it....who owns downtown Jacksonville? First Baptist Church Stadium. Our beer purchases can be what we tithe. I'll feel so much better about them $7.00 beers

Could we have a 40-foot 'Buddy Christ' built to append the Roaring Jaguar statue outside the stadium in memorial of the passing of George Carlin?
EDIT: 'Cause I could really go for that.

| What about Cisco Systems (not to be confused with Sysco the food company)? They are not based here but have offices here (and just about everywhere). They have sponsored the "Oakland As" new stadium and don't have a football footprint.

sec231beast (6/23/2008) Why not Maxwell House??! They've been dead in the heart of downtown Jax for the longest. Why can't they give something back?Give something back? That's what I said. I guess I don't follow you on this one. In order to "give something back" they had to been "given" something to begin with. As far as I know, the only thing "given" to them is a tax bill and the opportunity to provide jobs. YAWN........Jagibelieve '08 !!! Just sponsor the freakin' stadium. They've got the bread to do it. Insert Jagibelieve's political response here: ________________ I really don't want our wide receivers playing in "Good to the last drop" stadium. BTW the only reason you say Maxwell House (actually Kraft Foods) should be required to part with the money for sponsorship is because in your opinion they have it. Well in my opinion, you have it so give it up dude. Time for you to "give back." Ever heard of Robert Kraft? Why would the owner of the Cheatriots sponsor the Jaguar's stadium. Oops, looks like DAVEPDB2 beat me to the Kraft connection. Different Kraft

| | Dudes, it's gotta be Budweiser Stadium. Think about it. Beer and football go together like herpes on a hooker. Bud is a domestic, national, leading beer company and they have a huge brewery in town. Cha-ching. Plus Budweiser has always been heavily involved in NFL marketing. Budweiser: the official beer of the Jacksonville Jaguars. |
