i think its Mark AND Tony that own the Whataburgers, but they don't make enough to sponser and NFL stadium. I was thinking Wachovia but I don't know if they already sponser a stadium, i Know they are already involved with the Jaguars but that would be a pretty big bank that could benifit from sponsering a local team. I'd be willing to switch if they slap there name up there

They don't own Whataburger, just franchises.

Why not Maxwell House??! They've been dead in the heart of downtown Jax for the longest. Why can't they give something back?

Give something back?

That's what I said.

I guess I don't follow you on this one. In order to "give something back" they had to been "given" something to begin with. As far as I know, the only thing "given" to them is a tax bill and the opportunity to provide jobs.

Actually, Maxwell House is owned by non other than: Kraft Foods

As in Bob Kraft, Owner, New England Patriots...

Don't really think he's supporting the cause.

Thing is, a lot of these companies just don't need huge advertisement deals...

Some of the bigger companies that can afford it, are even putting their names on things like a crown, you know, a status symbol in their respective communities...

Like CSX; how many CSX commercials or advertisements do you see?

Not very many, because they don't really cater to the mass general public, which is why it's a waste of money for them to spend 5mil a year for the next ten years to put their name on our stadium for really no reason...

I really don't want our wide receivers playing in "Good to the last drop" stadium.

BTW the only reason you say Maxwell House (actually Kraft Foods) should be required to part with the money for sponsorship is because in your opinion they have it. Well in my opinion, you have it so give it up dude. Time for you to "give back."

Ever heard of Robert Kraft? Why would the owner of the Cheatriots sponsor the Jaguar's stadium.

Oops, looks like DAVEPDB2 beat me to the Kraft connection.

I still don't understand your whole point. I never brought up politics at all in my previous posts.

You stated that they should "give back" because they have been located downtown all these years and I questioned it.

You seem to think that Maxwell House happens to have the funds to do something like putting their name on the stadium. I must disagree with you there. The fact of the matter is there are only 5 companies or so here in Jacksonville that could possibly afford to do a naming rights deal.

Well, it doesn't have to be a local company.  Just a company that wants some PUB.

There are stadium sponsors out there which do not derive from the city in which they sponsor the stadium.

I'm sure that if/when the naming rights deal gets done it will probably be a company not based here in Jacksonville (Alltel isn't ) My whole point is that you said Maxwell House should "give back" since they have been downtown for so long.

If it was me, I would be looking for a huge corporation to pitch a naming rights deal to. Exxon-Mobile or Shell Oil would be near the top of the list. Maybe Apple Computers or one of the big banks.
