(Garrard) is also prone to injury.
Name and verify for me a single example of David being significantly injured at any point in his natural life besides the one fluke injury that occurred to him last year. One.

Some of the tacks actually admit our team is better, but this poster is one olive short of a martini.

Or.......

I stand very corrected on Garrard being injury prone.  I have no clue nor explicable reason as to why I said that.

Pure brain fart.  Like I said, I stand corrected.

Bon Jagley (6/14/2008)
The key will be finding Garrard's eventual replacement. Cowher's biggest problem was never having a real franchise QB until he got Roethlisberger.

What's with all this "need to find Garrard's replacement" talk. David Garrard is 30 years old, but has the body of a 25 year old, sitting on the bench and limiting his snaps have saved his body from alot of shots........I can easily see this guy playing atleast another 5 seasons at a high level before the Jags have to think about replacing him.

The only problem I see with that is that as players get older, injuries tend to heal slower. I'm not saying that Garrard is over the hill, but while he may look like a 25 year old, his body likely heals at the pace of a 30 year old. He's not injury prone, but he is a running QB, and he takes some big shots from time to time. If Garrard's future replacement could also be quality depth now, it would be the best way to go. If Garrard goes down with Lemon 2nd on the depth chart, they might as well start mulling the next year's top draft pick.

Yeah.. because our solid defense and our top 3 rushing attack won't win any games.. Lemon has starting experience, btw.. where he had no real talent around him.

If VY goes down, you guys will be worrying about where you'll seed in the playoffs.

Your defense isn't that solid, and Lemon started for the worst team in football last season. Your top three rushing attack won't be top three with him behind center. Eight and nine in the box.

It's solid enough for teams to respect us.

So do you agree that if VY goes down, you guys could snatch the 6th seed again? Or are you going to give me that VY wins b.s.?

Leaving out most players that left both rosters early...

2005 NFL Draft:

Colts

1. Marlin Jackson-Starter.

2. Kelvin Hayden-Starter.  Both comprimise a top secondary.  PFW says it's the best.

4. Dylan Gandy-Sub-starter who excels in run blocking.  Has done well here.

4. Matt Giordano-Came in for Bob Sanders in 2006, a player that the coaching staff has confidence in.  A dependable backup.

5. Tyjuan Hagler-Started in the absence of Rob Morris.

Jaguars

1. Matt Jones-Bust

2. Khalif Barnes-Starter.  You be the judge if he has lived up to the pick.

5. Gerald Sensabaugh-Backup.

2006

Colts

1. Joseph Addai-Teamed with Dominic Rhodes to replace franchise rushing leader and won a Super Bowl in the same season.  Named to 2007 Pro Bowl.

2. Tim Jennings-Starting nickel-back.

3. Freddie Kieaho-Starter.  A force at OLB.  Defense has statistically performed better with him in the lineup.

6. Charlie Johnson-Started LT in Super Bowl XLI.

6. Antoine Bethea-Best player out of the Colts' class.  Deservedly named to the Pro Bowl.

7. T.J. Rushing-Starter on kick returns.

Jaguars

1. Marcedes Lewis-I'm not seeing it...

2. Maurice Jones-Drew-Great pick.  No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

3. Clint Ingram-Solid starter.

5. Brent Hawkins-??????

Past that, anybody?

2007

1. Anthony Gonzalez-Solid rookie campaign with great speed.  Starter.

2. Tony Ugoh-Filled in nicely for the decade-long Manning-blinside protector.  High ceiling.

3. Dante Hughes-Well regarded coming out of college.  Right now, he's a backup.

3. Quinn Pitcock-Solid rotational backup.

4. Clint Session-Looked pretty good against the Chargers.  Had starting experience in '07.  Did really well.

7. Kenyunta Dawson-Filled in nicely against the Ravens last year.

Undrafted free agent-Ed Johnson, starting defensive tackle.  Most consistent linemen on the roster in 2007.

All of the players drafted made the roster.

Jaguars

1. Reggie Nelson-You be the judge.

2. Justin Durant-See Reggie Nelson.

3. Mike Walker-IR

4. Brian Smith-????

5. Uche Nwaneri-???????

5. Josh Gattis-See Uche...

7. John Broussard-IR

7. Chad Nkang-??????

With much lower picks, the Colts pulled eleven consistent starters (not counting Giordano, who played twelve games in '06, nor counting Rushing) over the last two seasons out of those drafts.  A couple of the backups are pretty good.  Dawson, Johnson, and Session all did well in spot duty.

Jackson, Hayden, and Jennings comprimise an elite secondary.  Giordano is a quality backup and shouldn't be blamed at all for the 2006 regular season defensive effort.  The Colts also got Bob Sanders with their second round pick in 2004.

The Jaguars pulled out five starters (counting MJD) out of those drafts.  For what it's worth, none of them made the Pro Bowl.

In all of those years, the Colts were strapped with cash and were forced to replace a lot of players on the spot with rookies, especially in '06 and '07.  Kieaho filled in for June.  Addai filled in for James.  Gonzalez filled in for Stokely.  Bethea filled in for Doss, and did better.  Hagler filled in for Morris.  Johnson filled in for McFarland.  Ugoh filled in for Glenn...on the eve of training camp.

All three of those years raked in 39 regular season wins (we gave up the Seattle game in '05, and the Tennessee game in '07), three division titles, and a Lombardi Trophy.

It's not even close.

Need we discuss how Reggie Williams has played up to this point, in relation to his value?  Byron Leftwich?
