Here is my reply "wrightqb":

I'm a die hard Jags fan and I don't really follow NCAA, so I have no bias. I want all of our players to succeed at the pro level, but Matt Jones is no better now than he was his rookie year. He is scared to go across the middle, and has no work ethic at all. I do not see Jones making the team. Porter and Walker have the make up of being a #1, meaning they're strong enough and fast enough to beat the jam, and Jones can't play in the slot. I DO know that Jones didn't play WR in college, so whomever said that, you're wrong. The Jags' receiving corps isn't great, but it can be very good.

Isn't that Williamson's history?Makes all the catchesin shorts, but can't produce consistently once the pads come on? Mini Camp and preseason will likely tell the storywith him.

That's the history I've heard. I've got a few family members who are Vikes fans, and that's the same story I get each and every time.

The man can get open with ease, but just fails to hang on to the ball, costing the team big plays.

It's really funny, since I don't remember that being a knock on him when he was in college.

IMO, the ONLY way Matt Jones makes this roster is if we keep six WR, or if Mike Walker starts the season on the PUP list, which I'm not sure if he can even do. Porter, Northcutt, Williams, and Williamson are locks in my eyes.

I'm pretty sure Williamson is going to get plenty of looks in the preseason to see how he's catching the ball in a game time situation. Right now is too early to prognosticate the outcome of that.

And with what Williamson has shown so far, that door for Jones is wider than ever right now.

a Vikings fan reaction to that article...

"every offseason he gets treated like he's going to be the next great thing and everyone talks about how he's improved so much on his catching. then the season starts and so do the dropped balls. I feel bad for Jacksonville fans who are getting really built up on this guy. boy are they going to be dissappointed."

we shall see!

It's pretty hard to be disappointed in the equivalent to a 6th round pick...

I'm sure that certain Jag fans are really hyped on what they've heard, however, the more educated fans know not to get their hopes up based on what they've seen in minicamp.

The only way I'd be dissapointed is if he makes the roster over someone like, say, Broussard, then starts dropping balls once the reg season starts.
