| Just when I was getting over my disdain for French policy.

In fairness, read the whole story and it becomes more understandable.
I believe it is done without malice, but also without sensitivity to those who served the "world community" so well, all those years ago.

| Reading the MB on that site you'd think they actually tore down the memorials and dug up the graves. Some people are looking for a reason to hate. That we actually have the story, that the narrative has been shared, is a blessing. They could've been cut down in silence.

| If I am the Gov't rep.: I want the liability of very mature trees dangling over roads eliminated.
If I am the land owner: I need to comply with gov't demands in the most cost effective way.
If I am a WWII survivor that carved the in a tree there (or his family) :I feel a bit degraded.
If I am a French taxpayer: In such a socialized society there is hardly room to commit tax dollars to protect an historical asset that will ultimately die or become unrecognizable in relatively few years anyway. Perhaps a few will be preserved for the near future.

| Interestingly there are a few posts noting that vets find the anger comical. Some are also posting that they are offended. I'm just not sure this is the venue to become hateful towards eachother. Petty in my eyes.

| I don't hate the French. I'm not fond of french condesention.(French culture) Nor do I cherish French governmental policies. (Surrender and Socialism {not that the USA isn't engaged similarly
})
